|My name is Dr. Michael Amos, I am a full time physician specializing in family medicine and I currently serve in patient in Westmoreland. Additionally, I currently serve my hometown of Kenova as a councilman. I look forward to expanding my area of service after being elected to the WV House District 27.
- Economic Responsibility. I look forward to working to expand job opportunities in District 27 and ensure that the legislature is as responsible as possible in spending.
- Service. From a young age, I have been driven to serve my community to make a better place for us all.
- Life-long learning. As a physician, I have dedicated my career to continuing to learn. It pushes me to provide the best care to my patients and it will be how I best serve the people of District 27.
1. Development of robust economic growth with high-paying job opportunities.
2. Fiscal responsibility by working to streamline government spending to reduce taxes.
3. Improving health through effective public health policy.
4. Ensuring that education in a region is working to match economic opportunities for graduates.
5. Ensuring the protection of the rights of all people.
Humility
Honesty
Service
Much like being a physician, I would listen, learn, and speak to be an effective officeholder, doing great things for those I serve.
To humbly serve their constituents.
Rich Dad Poor Dad. It was very influential for me to learn the lessons in this book.
Getting through medical school. It is not for the faint of heart, but with a great deal of grit and a whole lot of prayer I made it through and I am now a board-certified physician.
Ideally the governor and state legislature would work together on common goals and get these accomplished.
Looking ahead over the next decade I feel that our state will need to face a few challenges.
1. Economic opportunity, working to ensure that our young people are given the skills and the opportunity to use those skills all in at home.
2. Entitlement programs, creating a safety net that allows people to effectively rise up at being knocked down from whatever personal challenges they face while primarily ensuring that those that have paid into a system receive the fruits of their labors.
3. Economic responsibility. Working to ensure that government spending is controlled to further tax cuts.
I do. Even after a short time serving in the city government for my hometown, I find that there are numerous problems and solutions that are not recognized and brought to a higher government office to be dealt with. I also find that it allows individuals to see the shear complexity of getting things done in the governmental setting.
Of course, as I've spoken about in responding about compromising it is the same here. In building relationships you are able to find what the most important objective would be for each individual and work to accomplish their goals as well as your own.
As I said when I was elected to my seat on the city council, I will work to humbly serve the people wherever they will have me.
In seeing policymaking in action, I feel that compromise is a necessary piece that most likely will be need to be done to improve the lives of the individuals served.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
