Collapse all
|Kayla grew up in the 35th District in Charleston. She was raised by generations of West Virginian coal miners and teachers. She graduated from Kanawha County public schools and later West Virginia University where she studied Political Science, Public Relations, and Integrated Marketing Communications. Kayla is a mom and small business owner and her platform includes promoting a clean West Virginia, diversifying the economy, and building strong communities.
- Promoting a Clean West Virginia -- My son was born days after the WV Water Crisis. No one should have to go any length of time without clean water because of government bowing down to coal executives.
- Diversifying our Economy -- I had to start my own businesses due to the lack of opportunity in our state. We deserve better.
- Building Strong Communities -- We are only as strong as our most vulnerable populations.
As a leader of a women's organization, I am passionate about equality for all populations. I want a strong public edication system that is adequately funded to give the next generation the best chance of success. I am passionate about environmental issues.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
