Yeah so the Hype train was at full speed for this one. I had people who hardly watch movies come up to me mentioning how it is the scariest film of all time (they heard).
Personally I haven't been scared of a Horror movie since the days of tracking. So I wasn't expecting to be by this but I was expecting something special and avoided the hype train completely. The only fear I got was that someone would blurt out some sort of spoiler at me.
Sadly I only found the film superficial and meh. The story is fairly bland and the last part is really weak and signposted very early on in the film. What it does have is great performances from Cage and Witt. It also has a good dose of dread that Oz Perkins does well.
There is a lot of nothing horror too so if you are not a fan of that its not going to be too satisfying but the simple plot should appease the common viewer just don't expect the many lose threads tied off.
