Cabbages (キャベツ) are expensive vegetables that can fly at high speeds.
Appearance[]
Cabbages look just like common cabbages except that they have eyes, and many flap their leaves when flying. The version in the manga have white eyes and flap the lower leaves, while the ones in the anime have black eyes and flap the upper leaves.
They look very similar to Lettuces, though the specific differences in appearance portrayed vary with the media.
Overview[]
Being magical creatures like many vegetables in the Parallel World, Cabbages fetch a high price because of their great flavour and texture, but once ripe will tear themselves out of the ground and fly towards distant lands across the sea so they will die without getting eaten. As such, during cabbage harvesting season when they flee from the cabbage farms en masse, the Adventurer Guild will pay adventurers to catch the Cabbages.[1]
Variations[]
- Spring Cabbage (春キャベツ): Cabbages of springtime that have a higher vitality, due to having survived the hard winter.[2][3]
- Purple Cabbage (紫キャベツ): A purple Cabbage that is spawned in the secret super tribulation room of the Island in the Sky.[2]
- Metal Cabbage (メタルキャベツ): Cabbages made out of metal that fly around in Shangri-La and the Magic-Sealer Cave.[2][4]
- Gold Cabbage (ゴールドキャベツ): Rare Cabbages made out of gold that fly around in Shangri-La and the Bottomless Labyrinth.[2][4]
- Brussels Sprouts (メキャベツ): Smaller version of Cabbages that are not only faster, but have an instinct of bunching up to envelop enemy creatures in order to kill them through overheat or suffocation.[5]
Abilities[]
- Flight: Cabbages can magically make themselves float and fly at high speeds, thus capable of injuring people standing in their escape path as they collide into them.
Trivia[]
- The Cabbages in the anime resemble the Sunrise mascot Haro, whose most well known appearance is in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.
