Krakens (クラーケン) are gigantic squids that live in large bodies of water.
Appearance[]
Krakens look like squids that are generally dozens of people in length when measured from tip of the head to the end of their tentacles, while other specific appearance traits vary depending on the media.
Overview[]
Krakens generally inhabit large bodies of waters like the sea or huge lakes, and may sometimes draw similar monsters like Squids to them. Some Krakens are seen to take a liking towards women or similar objects, which they wrap their tentacles around before bringing back to their lairs, examples being the one that hugged a statue of Aqua in the Underwater Temple (though when the real Aqua was presented to that Kraken, it ended up shrinking away in disappointment, after which Kazuma's party had to defeat it so they can retrieve the curse relic's replacement part),[1] as well as the one that bound and stripped Darkness during Kazuma and his party's midsummer retraining session before being defeated.[2]
Variations[]
- Kraken R (クラーケンR): The energetic Kraken that Kazuma's party had to fight if they didn't drain the water from the flooded hall of the Underwater Temple in order to weaken it.[1]
- Migratory Kraken (渡りクラーケン): Krakens that live and walk on dry land.[3]
Abilities[]
- Squid Ink Barrier (イカ墨バリア): Krakens can squirt ink over itself so enemies have a harder time hitting it.[1]
- Tentacle Flailing (触腕乱舞): Krakens can lash out at multiple enemies with its tentacle arms.[1]
