Chapter 40 and 2/3 is a special episode featured at the end of the print edition of Hooky (Volume 2). It takes place sometime during the events of Chapter 40 in the book, which served more to Damien’s backstory. Chapter 40 covers episodes 94 through 97 in the original WEBTOON.
Summary[]
Sometime during their childhood at Monica’s Castle, Ivy decides she’s bored. She tells William, who is in the process of being beaten at a wooden sword fight with Aisha, to find a way to entertain her, Anne, Amir, and Monica. Monica suggests that they play hide and seek around the palace, with Will agreeing. He asks Damien if he’d like to play, who hesitates and says he doesn’t play. Will makes him join in hiding, while Anne counts.
Damien hides behind some barrels, panicking and concentrating on not turning anyone into an animal. Will appears behind him, asking if they can hide together. Startled, Damien accidentally turns Will into a rat. Damien starts apologizing profusely, just as Anne finds him. She’s disappointed, thinking she got Will as well, as he hides inside Damien’s clothes in rat form.
Damien, afraid that he won’t be able to turn William back and will lose him as a friend, starts crying. He thinks to himself how thankful he was to have Will and a friend, and hopes one day he’ll forgive him. Suddenly, Will transforms back, and thanks Damien. Damien’s confused, and Will tells him that he didn’t lose the game because of his magic, and that he’s amazing.
Sometime later in the castle library, Monica and William have a pop quiz. He begs Damien to turn him into a rat again, with Damien refusing to have him skip his lessons again.

- Like the other chapters featured in the Hooky volumes, it has not been confirmed if they are actually canon to the story or not.
- Based on the timeline of events and the order of Damien’s flashbacks, this chapter likely takes place sometime during events shown in episode 96.
- Based on Ivy’s reaction, the other royal children knew of Damien but had not actually been formally introduced to him by this point.
- This chapter is one of the few instances Aisha is shown with her long hair.
