When she met Alex and her crew, they helped dress her up to look like a proper witch, giving her a black jacket and a classical witch hat. This way she could hide among witches and not be recognized or judged in a way that could draw attention to her, or her royal status. Story[]
Book 1[]
After a week of moping about her fiancé William’s sudden disappearance, Monica decides to find him on her own. She leaves the castle with a group of guards and eventually stumbles into the place Dani and Dorian are staying, Master Pendragon's house, with the help of Nico who guides her in return of a fortune compensation.
Once there she requests Pendragon to read her future who tells her that she'll be “Locked in high tower in the dark with full moon night, white roses, ashes, and fire,” but those events happen in opposite order. This unsettles Monica and causes her to proclaim that she'll stay with the master till she finds her Prince Will. This brings about an argument between her and the guards, but in the middle of it, Dorian's frog, Carlo, causes a curtain to catch on fire revealing to Monica and Nico that they are witches.
While she originally is shocked at the fact that they are witches, Dani is able to convince her that not all witches are bad, and that they want to help her. Although it takes more time with Dorian, who originally scared her, she gradually seems to get used to the fact that they are genuinely nice and do not want to harm her. Master Pendragon allows her to stay and learn magic with the twins, and she takes the room in the attic tower.
The next day she tries to make up with Dorian, but when he says some rather insensitive remarks, she gets even more angry with him making rude remarks towards him throughout the master's magic lessons.
Later that day when Dani catches Nico being mean to Dorian again, and shrinks him she seems, for a second, unsettled and maybe even scared of Dani before quickly recovering and hiding the newly transformed Nico from Mark who knocks on the door. Once Mark leaves and the twins begin trying to get Nico back to his original size, she exclaims that “I think he’s (Nico) adorable!” but with Dorian's failure of spells, Monica suggests asking the Master for help. However when seeing that Nico's current size, (maybe semi- permanent) she lends her doll sized replication of her castle for Nico to sleep in.
after making another rude comment towards Dorian, Monica fears for a second that she went too far when he runs off, but he promptly returns with his diary of adventures. She at first pretends to be disinterested but doesn't keep the façade up for long, but when Dorian compares her to what she believes is a fat bird she gets angry at him all over again, leaving Dorian disappointed and confused.
The next day though, Monica seems to have calmed down and even compliments Dorian's outfit when the Master comes in asking the twins and Nico for a favor. Monica wants to go with them but is kept back, due to her fame and likelihood of getting recognized. When the twins and Nico leave, she says goodbye to Dani and Nico, hesitating on Dorian, but gathering up her courage stutters out an awkward apology and says she wants to be friends, which Dorian quickly agrees to. During the exchange Dorian says his last name "Wytte" which the princess finds oddly familiar.
After Dani gets captured, and Nico comes back asking for help, Monica overhears and is horrified quickly getting Nico, the Master, and Mark, for his truck to get to the small & remote village as fast as possible. Once there she pours a bucket of water on the flames, saving Dani. Her appearance causes the villagers to flee in fear of being reprimanded by the princess for their part in the illegal act. Back in Pendragon's house she tries to cheer up the mood by teasing Dorian a little, but it backfires & he snaps at her. She turns to Dani for comfort but is quickly turned away as well, although in a more gentle manner.
The next day when the dreary mood continues. And Monica thinks of an idea, exclaiming that they should go to the beach, in attempt to bring the mood up. With a little of convincing, she gets everyone to join her. Due to the events of the day before m, she tries her best to avoid Dorian, especially when Dani confirms that he really is angry at her.
After talking with Dani she figures out that she has a crush on Mark and is adamant about helping her. The two decide to make a love potion, and this completely annoys off Nico, who decides he doesn't want to hang out with them and their “girly” attitudes, instead turning to Dorian. Monica and Dani ignore them and gather up ingredients to make the potion. With the potion managed to finish in a decent amount of time, they celebrate before hearing Dorian's scream and rushing over to him and Nico. Seeing Dorian captured by a giant squid, Monica grabs what she believes is a harpoon to rescue him, but is beat by Dani who lets out a spell that makes the squid fall. Monica seems happy when Dorian emerges from the water unharmed, but when she hears the squid is dead Monica appears creeped out by Dani's magic. But seeing the twins interaction is happy once again, with Dorian safe, she returns to her plans with Dani and Mark. together with Dani they invite Mark over and Monica sneaks away to leave the two alone.
In her tower room she watches over Dani and Mark, but is interrupted by Dorian who wants to apologize. She accepts it offhandedly and invites him to watch over his sister and Mark, but Dorian turns it down. When she gets back to the window she's disappointed to see Mark and Dani gone. Later on when she sees how her love potion had an opposite reaction with Mark, she's surprised and wonders how long it'll last. When Mark and Dorian come down the following morning, acting friendly, Dorian exclaims excitedly that he's made his first friend, which results in Monica looking hurt/offended. During the Master's magic lessons, Monica is curious about how to defend herself against spells.
Later that week when the twins try to escape to what she believes is a camping trip, she feels its unfair and sneaks up on them. exclaiming that she and Nico would be coming along explaining that she overheard their plans earlier that week.
Once the four reach the campsite, she along with the others admonish Dorian for taking out the fun in camping by setting up the tents with magic. She then splits them up on tasks they need to complete and says that she'll go look for firewood. While in the forest she hears a girl on the top of a tower calling out for help. She decides to climb the tower on her own after all she supposed to be the heroine of the story and that's something a hero would do. After climbing the tower, which takes longer than she thought it would, she realizes that the girl was actually an enchanted doll made by a witch. she begins to freak out trying to get out before the witch comes back. While panicking she remembers the master's prophecy and thinks that the situation she's in might be it and freaks out even more. However Dorian who thought they were taking too long overhears her and Monica is relieved to have been found. She gives Dorian the broom in the tower and tells him to find Dani to get her down, knowing that Dorian can't ride a broom.
While waiting for Dani she beings to despair in her own helplessness believing herself to be a cliché 'damsel in distress,' even though she wanted to be the heroine that saved her fiancé Will. However seeing Dorian use the broom to save her she seems happy once again and while going down helps him steer the broom. They end up crash landing in a tree where it seems that Dorian and her connect. Dorian compliments Monica saying he couldn't have steered the broom without her and agrees to teach her magic after her request in order to get stronger. While walking with Dorian the meteor shower begins and Monica starts making obvious wishes to find Will soon they run into Dani and Nico who are watching a great influx of witches streaming towards one area. The twins claim ignorance and after a short discussion the four decide to stay in camp and not return to the master's house. That night they spend having fun, laughing with one another, and telling camp stories.
The next chapter begins with the letter Dorian leaves when he sneaks out in the middle of the night with Dani to go to the Witches Sabbath and is followed by the label Monica where the princess narrates her backstory. We meet Will and see how her life was like in the palace both in regular life and her engagement. She shows how she almost called off her engagement instead trying to find her "true love" but in the end realizes that it just seems to work with Will, that he feels like home, and she thinks- in the end, she would be alright with marrying him. She then expresses regret in the week she spent moping on Will's disappearance instead of actually doing anything. And explains that although she isn't sure if she has matured or is just pretending to, but she isn't gonna wait another week to look for the twins.
She grabs Nico and a homemade witch hat and goes to where the stream of witches were at the night before. She then sneaks into a car hoping to hide as a stowaway but is quickly found out by Alex, Noah, and Barry who explain to her what's happening and that they are good witches and don't want to harm non-magical folks. The reach the floating rock where the sabbath is occurring and they're told they have to get up on their own, one by one, by using a broom. Alex hands her an easy broom to use and says she'll be at the top. After briefly panicking she straightens herself up and begins to float softly using the broom but before she can get far she's interrupted by the master and falls down.
Nico and Monica are surprised to see the master there and explain their current dilemma with the twins being missing and are horrified when he says he should have killed him. When the master explains what he saw in his crystal ball and that one of the twins are destined to be the king of witches, both Nico and Monica and quick to defend them. the three of them agree that what they must do is bring the twins out of the influence of their family and by default the floating rock asap.
Once on the floating rock, Nico, with the help of the new moon, is returned to his normal size and says he'll now be useful as her bodyguard now. When the duo see the twins parents captured and life threatened they're determined to save them running off, ignoring the master's protests. However while trying to reach them the prophecy is read, the Wyttes are freed, and chaos unfolds. While on the steps she spots Will who was able to escape with the help of Damien, although she doesn't spot him, and with Nico's encouragement runs after them.
But in the chaos she loses sight of them, using her broom she reaches the ground and continues looking but instead she finds Dorian. She runs towards them and seeing Dorian in some kind of trance tackles him and starts questioning him but once seeing dana she focuses her attention on her. She and Dorian struggle to get out of the mess while carrying Dani when Nico, Alex, Noah, and Barry find them and help them into their van.
Monica asks Alex to drive them to the castle, and while in the van she asks Dorian how she looks in her witch outfit, to which he responds that she looks too old. Although she berates him for this, he retracts his statement, although Monica doesn't hear it over her own yelling.
Their reprieve in the van is cut short when Pendragon attacks the van, causing it to stop, and takes the children back to his house.
Back at the house, Monica yells at the Master for locking Dani and Dorian in her room and for not trusting them, and Master admits he's contemplating killing the twins. Monica and Nico run to block the door, although the master just leaves to consult his crystal ball. When he returns, set on killing them, Monica yells at him, blocking him from entering. However, Mr. Evans comes and punches Master Pendragon alongside Mark. While the two are talking, Monica, Nico and Mark enter the room. Although nervous, Monica explains the situation and the reason Master decided to lock them in.
When Dani and Dorian say that a Wytte becoming King of the Witches is inevitable, Monica yells at them, telling them that she's risked her neck to save them. However, they quickly clarify that they meant Damien as the future King of the Witches. Monica recognizes his name, and lies about the fact that he could fit the Master's prophecy. Although he is a Wytte sibling, he can't fulfil the prophecy as Pendragon said that the King of the Witches would have dark hair and eyes.
Later on, after Master Pendragon left to consult the King about this situation, Monica goes to apologize to Dorian for yelling at him. They agree to keep being a team, however she quickly feels guilty for lying to him about Damien.
The next morning, she calls Dani adorable in Nico's overalls, and offers to take her shopping for new non-black clothes. When she asks for Dorian's opinion, he calls the outfit horrible, where it is revealed Dani wants to stop being a witch.
A few days later, Monica takes Dani clothes shopping, where they complain about Dorian being in a bad mood, with Monica saying he's been ignoring her for days. The girls cycle through two outfits which Monica picked out, however Dani doesn't particularly enjoy them. Despite that, Monica calls all of the outfits adorable, with her approving the final outfit Dani picks for herself. While leaving, they run into a soldier putting up a flier for a great ball at the palace. Monica, excited, says that they have an excuse to go shopping again.
Later that day, Monica and Dani announce that they'll be holding some intensive etiquette classes over the course of the week. Because of Dani's crush on Mark, Monica arranges for her to dance with him, while Monica settles for dancing with Dorian. However, because Monica sounded hesitant about dancing with Dorian, Dani agrees to dance to dance with her brother, leaving Monica to dance with Mark.
Although she practices with Mark for a bit, he isn't particularly good at dancing, resulting in him stepping on her foot. This causes Monica to storm off and tells him to practice with a broom. Since Dani is also a bad dancer, Monica asks to dance with Dorian, since he claims to be an expert. When he declines, Monica realizes he doesn't know how to dance, although he vehemently denies this.
While at the Royal Ball, Monica reunited with Anne and Ivy, along with her father King George, who promises to take care of the twins and let them stay in the castle with them. She chats with others such as Amir (though he only appears for a bit) and after a bit dances with her friends (People such as Nico and Dani are seen dancing with her)
Nico encourages Dorian to ask Anne to dance, where it is revealed that Dorian can in fact dance. This makes Monica and Dani jealous, though Dani goes with Mark and Nico to the town while Monica stays at the palace. Monica drags Dorian away, suddenly arguing with him about how he Lied about not being able to dance. He explains that he’s still shorter than her, that’s why he didn’t dance with her (He didn’t want to look like a shrimp)
Damien suddenly walks by and instantly charges at Dorian, calling him dangerous and threatening him by pointing his wand at him. The both of them yell at each other and argue for a while.
Monica snatches the wand away from Damien, exposing how they are brothers and should treat each other as such. She also explains how she lied about Damien possibly being the King of Witches so he could protect Dorian and Dani, but can’t find a reason not to trust him. She can’t figure out how any of the Wytte family’s children could possibly turn evil, and thinks Pendragon and the prophecy were wrong.
Damien tells her that she’s way too naive and calls her an immature child, that she was having a good time just a few minutes ago while there was a chance that William could already be dead. He turns to Dorian, telling him that it’s almost the witching hour. Monica makes sure Dorian is okay after Damien leaves, and they enter the palace once again to dance. However midnight (witching hour) hits and multiple witches (including a large red dragon) enter the palace while the others attack the town.
Monica and Dorian hide behind some torn up curtains where Dorian explains that he had originally seen William at the floating rock but lost sight of him and didn’t tell Monica. But before he can really confess to her Anne and Ivy scream for help as Anne is hanging from part of the 2nd or 3rd floor after the floor collapsed.
Dorian asks if Monica hates him to which Monica replies “I don’t know, you’ve done something terrible. But right now I need your help.” They rush off to save Anne. Once they finally manage to save her they follow Amir under one of the tables where everything is visible. That’s where Dorian confesses to Monica that he has feelings for her to which Monica replies “I didn’t say I dislike you.” Not confirming whether or not she does have feelings for him though she looks flustered.
Meanwhile Damien turns King George into a toad to avoid his father beheading him, though he disguises it as a way to show they’re more powerful. Monica, Dorian, Amir, Ivy, and Anne all run to seek better shelter, where Damien finds them but instead of harming them casts a spell preventing them from leaving or being found behind a wall.
Thanks to Carlo they fly out of there where they find Dani looking completely devastated after witnessing Alex’s death. Monica talks with Nico and Nico reveals to her that he suspects Dani is the queen of witches.

Ruling[]
Being the queen of her kingdom means that she has some authority for decisions that people make.
Relationships[]
Main characters[]
- Dani Wytte: Monica and Dani have a close friendship. Since the moment Monica realized they were wizards Dani explained to her there was nothing to be afraid of because they were not evil. She became her friend much sooner than Dorian.
- Dorian Wytte: Monica and Dorian had a rocky relationship of misunderstandings at first, but gradually began to improve their relationship, and even came to feel a certain attraction between them that neither has admitted. Monica often forgot about William for thinking or talking to Dorian. She gradually develops true feelings for Dorian since she was worried that she "loved someone else more [than William]". They end up together in the series finale even though Monica is still legally married to Will.
- Nico: Nico and Monica had a mutual agreement that Dorian was weird and Dani was cool. As time moves forward they all become really good friends. Later in the story, Nico confesses to Monica that he may be in love with Dani with Monica being extremely supportive in response, even telling him to go for it. Aside from the matchmaking, the two are rather close and care for one another and Nico swore to be Monica’s bodyguard when her guards weren’t with her.
- Mark Evans: Before the time skip, Monica played as a sort of matchmaker between Mark and Dani being the catalyst to a part of their friendship and one of the perpetrators for Mark being received a love potion from Dani. However, she prefers Nico to Mark in winning Dani’s heart but she still supports him as a friend.
- Damien Wytte: Damien and Monica knew each other since they were very young. She considered Damien and William to be her childhood friends and was really close to both of them. Surprisingly, they both liked the same boy but, never got jealous of one another. Monica is very supportive of his relationship with Will, despite being married to him since she never loved Will the same way.
Supporting characters[]
- William: He is one of Monica‘s childhood friends and arranged marriage partner. When Will goes missing, Monica is determined to save him. Monica often worries that the love she feels for William is not like the one she's read in romance books and considers cancelling her commitment with William to find true love. After the time skip, she had her marriage plans on pause, but she proposes the idea of marrying Will to forge a stronger bond between their two kingdoms, despite her unrequited feelings for Dorian. She does not want to marry William and much rather spend that time with Dorian.
- Ivy: Ivy is Monica‘s childhood friend and lady-in-waiting, who repeatedly helped her with hair and clothing choices. Even when she wasn’t at the castle, Ivy still continued to be kind to her and still helped her with fashion. Ivy is much more open with her opinions on matters though is not as kind as her foil, Anne.
- Anne: Like Ivy, Anne is also Monica‘s childhood friend and lady-in-waiting. She also helped Monica with fashion, repeatedly doing her hair. Outside of the palace, the two are still good friends and she still helps Monica with her hair. Anne is a lot sweeter than her foil, Ivy.
- Monica's father: Monica seemed to be quite close to her father before his untimely death, following in his beliefs that witches and humans should be treated with the same principles; like equals. He initially did not put as much trust in her, having a couple of guards to protect her at all costs, but as time went on, he grows to trust her, allowing her to adventure in dangerous territories.
- Alex: Being the first out of the main cast to meet Alex, they shared a close bond. Alex helped Monica disguise herself as a witch so she didn’t get caught. They did not interact outside of that, though it’s presumed that she is deeply distraught by her death.
- Amir: They are childhood friends, as their kingdoms are very close to each other. The two do not really interact that much though when they do, Amir usually declares a proposal for her to be engaged to him instead of William. This slightly irritates Monica but it does not cause hatred or awkwardness towards him. She instead ignores it and continues as if nothing ever happened.
- Noah: Like Alex, Monica is also the first of the main characters to meet Noah. Also like Alex, the two share a bond as he also helped in disguising herself as a witch.
- Barry: Though the two don’t really interact very much, it is suggested that Monica is grateful for Barry, Noah and Alex as they helped her in not getting caught.
- Monica’s mother: Monica, though not sharing a close of a relationship like that of her father, still seemed to love and cherish her mother before her untimely death at Amir and Aisha’s castle.
- Aisha: The two never really interact much, even less than Amir‘s interactions with Monica. However, the two most likely trust each other, due to being in the same friend group and from their relations with Amir and the royal families.
- Pendragon: Prior to the time skip, she stayed at Pendragon’s house for a short period of time before the Witches Sabbath Arc. During the time she stayed, she started to learn the fundamentals of magic and befriended Dani and Nico and eventually, Dorian. She is most likely grateful to Pendragon for letting her stay for a bit in his house however she did not like him for trying to kill the twins due to a prophecy he had received from his clairvoyance skills.
