Ruffspringa is the second segment of the 5th episode in season 3 of Harvey Street Kids. The title of the episode is a reference to the New Girl episode name "Rumspringa". (s6e17)
Synopsis[]
Richie has a sheltered talking dog named Dollar, who doesn't get much of being adorable. Suddenly, when he gets scared by lots of fireworks, he makes new animal friends.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Dollar catching a Frisbee with his paw, where Richie rewards him by transforming the object into a pizza. Before testing this object, the image turns black, hinting that they were playing in a virtual reality. After telling him a nice thing, Richie says they will take a break from the catch simulation. When Dollar asks if there will be an improvement to his translator or when he will take a bath, Richie mentions that he will improve his necklace with the recognition of pronouns later, to tell him that his current improvement is making friends by calling the girls.
When the girls arrive, Dollar becomes somewhat shy, which surprises the girls that he can speak. Richie comments that Dollar is a prototype dog based on the animals most popularized on social networks. After a question from Dot, Richie comments that he has not shown him so far because he is a pet dog that still could not survive the common bacteria.
Seeing Audrey wanting to do a catch-all competition, Dollar runs away and the girls propose that he could go to see the qualities of the outside along with telling Richie that it is a childhood experience that he can get. Richie accepts and Dollar tries to flee, only to take him away in a carriage. There the girls tell him the advantages of being in the Harvey Street Park and the amusements that it offers including Tiny who is blowing some bubbles. Dollar for his part sees him as a hostile demon and withdraws.
Lotta proceeds to show him the field of sunflowers and Gerald, who can play ambient songs. Dollar finds the song too quiet, missing the buzz that virtual reality causes and flees breaking the stroller seat belts with his strength. Audrey shows her the dump with abandoned fireworks, then runs away. For her part, Lotta tells Richie that her rabbits were afraid to go out and now they can do aerial tricks by jumping from an airplane.
After fleeing, Dollar meets Billy, Sues, Bobby's hawk. Billy communicates with him where the first tells him the situation of his social anxiety. Dollar communicates with the group by asking them if they are hybrids and getting along with them. Richie sees this and is proud of his new friendship. After Dollar offered them to play holographic Wei-Chi, the hawk tells him that the blond boy has him too domesticated. Billy encourages that behavior by saying that he could act more wildly such as farting, playing in the trash, digging and biting on a toy.
Richie along with the girls notices Dollar wilder seeing him bite Lotta's rabbit bushes along with trying to forge domination to Tiny after he scared him, with Lotta interrupting by grabbing both of them and saying he should discipline him. Tiny for his part, is kidnapped by the hawk. In the sky mansion, Richie says that he could punish him or make him hold a ridiculing sign on the internet, Richie decides to do the first thing by leaving him at home, saying he will go with the Harvey girls with a comically large jar of beans for an unknown purpose.
Dollar then calls a party with his new friends using his howl. When they get there, he tells them that they helped him find his wild instincts, which he wants to apply by throwing a party. After inviting several animals and The Bow, the hawk wants to send Richie's ship to the city's zoo to invite the animals there.
While the animals were browsing the buttons, a raccoon conveniently shows a video showing the good times that he and Richie spent, with Dollar being impressed and saying that the party is over. The animals, including Richie's robots and Bobby's hawk try to pressure him into giving in, but Dollar tries an emotional speech to convince them. Seeing the negative reaction, Dollar roars while the animals cower and settle. Later, Richie arrives on the scene and sees the living room quite dirty, where Dollar tries to go unnoticed. The episode concludes with Dollar and some animals holding a sign saying "I trashed Richie's house."
