Foldin' Girls is the first segment of 9th episode in season 3 of Harvey Street Kids. The title of the episode is a reference to the sitcom Golden Girls, the one that has a song called "Thank You for Being a Friend".

Synopsis[]

Dot and Chevron compete each other in an Origami themed championship.

Plot[]

The episode begins in Acapulco, with Richie narrating what happens as a documentary. In it, an origami competition occurs where he says it changed the history of competitive origami and the Harvey Girls. The scene changes to Lucretia, who during the interview says that humanity was not ready for Dot's origami figures. Richie, Audrey and Lotta in the interview, also says that the figures that Dot and Chevron made were unique, and the last one comments that the championship had an interesting climax. Ricky proceeds to name the documentary's title, "Girls Folds" made by his company "Rich Enterprises".

Xaden from Crush4U is shown, saying it all started when he went to Harvey Street, where the Harvey girls conveniently found him in the middle of the street. He also mentions that he remembers the moment because he had a bad hair day. After Lotta shouted with excitement when she saw him, Xaden tells them that he will be a presenter in an Origami competition, which several street kids applaud. Dot questions whether it is necessary to tell such news in a neighborhood as common as Harvey Street, which Richie tells her that he will go to co-present and co-produce it, along with implying that he signed a contract to be the presenter in one of his several attempts to live childhood, which the company that hired him forces him to do so.

Dot enters the competition as part of one of her 242 dreams, where Lucretia passes out. Dot during the interview mentions that she joined the competition because she says she has experienced since she was a baby and feels confident. In the last-minute, Chrevron also joins in saying that she has experience even before she was a baby, while also chatting with Dot, criticize her saying she makes origami figures too big along with indirectly provoking her. Outside the Harvey Girls' HQ, Dot starts training while telling the girls that miniature origami figures are prioritized in the competition. Audrey, on the other hand makes some origami Nunchakus.

In the interview, Dot comments that this year's theme is female heroines (sheroes) and mentions that she refuses to make giant origami figures because she says judges are demanding and value the origami manufacturing time. Already in Acapulco, the public waits and Xaden goes up on stage asking Richie about his hair and if it looks tight, which he says is fine. Xaden proceeds to perform the opening ceremony and mentions Ryan Ninaman as one of the judges.

Xaden presents Dot making an origami figure of Sally Ride, the first woman on the moon. At the stalls, the girls take photos and Lucretia passes out, with Ryan giving her 7.3/10 points for making a figure too big for the competition's regulations. Chevron makes an origami figure of Peggy Whitson the first woman to direct the first International Space Station, with Ryan giving her a higher score (8/10) without giving any apparent explanation. Richie comments that there were more contestants, but he dismissed them in the documentary for not having an interesting lore.

Dot makes a figure of Amelia Earhart, where Ryan gives it an 8.4/10; and Chevron makes Raymonde de Laroche, the first woman to receive a pilot's license, where she made a miniature that fits in the palm of her hand, with Ryan giving her 9/10 points. In the interview, Lotta says she preferred when Dot made her usual large figures. On stage, Dot proceeds to do a figure of Harriet Tubman.

Somehow, in the interview, Laughin' is also present where she mentions that Dot was restricting her creativity by avoiding making her usual large origami figures. The serious Dot says that she had to do whatever it takes to win along with mentioning that the "Serious Chevron" would do the same, which she confirms it.

In the finals, Chevron does Rosalind Franklin where she makes a song that was supposedly requested at this point, which Ryan clarifies. Chevron sings the song and Ryan gives him a 9.9 newspaper. Dot does the same for Marie Curie, but she wants to do a large origami figure because she has pride for her heroine, as she mentions in an interview. Dot recreates how Marie would have received the Nobel Prize, where Marie's ghost/spirit in person watches her while she wipes away a tear, and Lucretia faints from the emotion next to her.

Ryan was about to give the award to Dot, but in the middle of the reception she purposely takes it away justifying the figure's size. Chevron for her part gives the trophy to Dot saying that she deserves to win. Richie, meanwhile, invites the kids to a Gofish tournament in Seoul, again implying that he did so under contractual actions. Xaden asks about him about his hair again. Finally, an end card is shown folding like an origami.
