- "Change of plans, my parents decided to go to Romania... to visit my brother Charlie. He's studying dragons there."

Romania (Romanian: România) is a country located in southeastern Europe. It borders the Republic of Moldova to the north-east, Hungary to the north-west and Serbia to the south-west, Ukraine to the north and east, and Bulgaria to the south. Its capital city is Bucharest ("București").
History[]
In 1809, Romania competed against New Spain in the 1809 Quidditch World Cup final.[1]
After leaving Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Charlie Weasley studied dragons at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary.[2] During the 1991–1992 school year at Hogwarts, students believed Professor Quirrell's classroom smelt of garlic in order to ward off a vampire he met in Romania who he was afraid would come find him.[3] Molly and Arthur Weasley went to Romania during the Christmas break in 1991 to visit Charlie.[4]
In 2019, at least one of the members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force was invited to study dragons alongside Dragonologist Charlie Weasley at their Dragon Sanctuary. This experience would later benefit them in the field while working to contain the breaches of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy caused by the Calamity.[5]
Magical education[]
It is possible that Romanian wizards and witches had the option to attend the Durmstrang Institute as it accepted students from all over Northern and Eastern Europe, as long as they were of wizarding heritage.
