Kazakhstan is a large landlocked country in Central Asia, sharing a border with Russia in the north, China in the southeast, and three other former Soviet republics (Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan).[1]

The Kazakhstani portion of the Ryn Desert was chosen as the venue for the 1877 Quidditch World Cup. However, due to mysterious circumstances, nobody in the wizarding world remembered the tournament actually taking place that year.[2]
