Croatia is a territory along the Adriatic Sea in southern Europe.[1]
History[]
Centaurs were known to have lived in Croatia. In 1926, The New York Ghost reported that a Centaur colony in Croatia was under observation, for unknown reasons.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The mention of Croatia in a prop newspaper featured in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them represents something of an anachronism, as the film is set in 1926, and the modern independent state of Croatia was not founded until 1991.[1] At the time, the territory the modern state occupies was part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, which formed after seceding from Austria-Hungary in 1918.[3] However, a Kingdom of Croatia, named for the people who founded it, existed from the 10th century, and thus the name "Croatia" has been applied to the territory since long before the founding of the modern state.[1]
