Equatorial Guinea is a country in western Africa.
Witches and wizards from Equatorial Guinea may have attended Uagadou.[1]
History[]
Newton Scamander travelled from Equatorial Guinea to New York in December 1926 after completing a year in the field studying magical beasts.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The reference to Equatorial Guinea in the script of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an apparent anachronism, as the film is set in 1926, and Equatorial Guinea did not become a country until 1968. Before its independence, it was a colonial territory of Spain, and was known as Spanish Guinea.[3] However, it is possible that the Guinean wizarding government achieved independence decades earlier than its Muggle counterpart, or that wizarding Guinea has never been subject to colonial control at all.
