Columbia is a country than spans South and Central America and is bordered by several countries including Brazil and Peru, as well as the Pacific Ocean. Its capital district and largest city is Bogata.[1]
History[]
During the Calamity, a greenhouse in Bogata, Columbia reported an infestation of Runespoors. Members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force investigated and spend several days charming and removing the three-headed snakes, ultimately leaving the proprietors with a huge cache of Runespoor eggs.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the real world, the correct spelling of the name of the country is Colombia, though for some reason, when referred to in and out of the Harry Potter universe in canon sources, it is spelled with a "u" instead of an "o".
- Some artwork used for the Harry Potter At Home project originated with an artist from Colombia.
- Penguin Random House's division in Colombia have particpated in promoting the Harry Potter Book Night.[3]
