Wales is a country located on the island of Great Britain, which is bordered by England.
History[]
In the summer of 1993, the Knight Bus picked up Madam Marsh from Abergavenny in Wales. During the same journey, the Knight Bus passed through Anglesey in Wales.[1]
Sometime in or prior to 1994, a mystery regarding the Dark Arts took place in Wales.[2]
During the Calamity in the late 2010s or early 2020s, a bag full of frog brains in Caerphilly in Wales was multiplied through the Doubling Charm, with the multiplied brains threatening to bury the town. A Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force travelled to the town and reversed the charm in time, saving the town. The investigator then brought the greatly multiplied frog brains back to the task force to use the new stockpile as potion ingredients.[3]
Magical education[]
Welsh witches and wizards had the option to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland.[4]
Helga Hufflepuff, one of the four founders of Hogwarts, possibly came from Wales.[5]
Magical games and sports[]
Wales had its own National Quidditch team, which in 1994 lost to Uganda during the 422nd Quidditch World Cup.[6] Other Welsh Quidditch teams included the Caerphilly Catapults and the Holyhead Harpies.[7]
"Dangerous" Dai Llewellyn was a famous Welsh wizard who played for the Caerphilly Catapults. His untimely demise by being eaten by a Chimaera while vacationing in Greece prompted a national day of mourning among witches and wizards in Wales.[7]
