Happy Gas Smash! (or Destroy Happy Gas! in the PlayStation version) is a mission in Grand Theft Auto 2 available during Area 1: Downtown, given to the protagonist Claude Speed by the Yakuza boss Johnny Zoo. The mission is available from the left yellow phone in the neighborhood of Funabashi in Downtown District.
Moderate Respect for the Yakuza is required in order to unlock this mission, indicated by the yellow light icon below the gang's respect-o-meter on the HUD.
Description[]
The Loonies have not paid Johnny back from a previous deal. He tells Claude to retrieve the money from the Loonies, then return. When Claude arrives at the meet, the Loonies double-cross Johnny and attack Claude. Furious, Johnny orders Claude to arm an Ice-Cream Van with a bomb, break into the Sunnyside Asylum and destroy the Happy Gas Tanks.
Reward[]
The reward for completing the mission is $40,000, +1 Score Multiplier, and increased Yakuza Respect level.
