Jerkov (Russian: Джерков) is a main character in Grand Theft Auto 2.
History[]
Background[]
He is a known criminal in both Anywhere City and Russia. He was kicked out of the Soviet army in 1989, and in 1994 was linked to a number of deaths in America's underworld. He disappeared shortly thereafter but was spotted in a knife attack in 1996. He was arrested and tried for possession of heroin, a drug he is addicted to, in 1997 but was acquitted when the evidence was lost. He is also suspected of disemboweling a rival gang member. He is married to Sandra Tito, a Serbian refugee, and they have a son. He is also known as Junkie, Soldier and Smiler.
Events of Grand Theft Auto 2[]
Green Phone Jobs[]
Jerkov is a high-ranking member and boss of the Kovski Bratva, ambiguously referred to as the Russian Mafia, who are jealous of the USA's products, so they steal vehicles and weapons to sell back in Russia. The Russians are against the Zaibatsu Corporation and the Hare Krishna.
Jerkov employs Claude (whom he refers to as "Comrade") to help the Russians gain full control of the Industrial District. In one of his first jobs, Claude is hired to kidnap a group of civilians from bus stops using a Bus and deliver them to the R. S. & L. Bows Meat Processing Plant to be minced alive and later be served as hot dogs in a fast food diner owned by the Kovski Russian Mafia. He also hires Claude to kidnap and drown a group of drug dealers working for the Zaibatsu Corporation.
Yellow Phone Jobs[]
After earning enough respect from the Kovski Russian Mafia, Jerkov directs Claude to destroy two Cop Cars, a SWAT Van, and a Special Agent Car in a short period of time, in order to extort protection money from the city's emergency services. Claude is hired to kill a group of Hare Krishna hitmen sent to kill Jerkov, including their top hitman Nova Bright. After some of the Zaibatsu operatives lost a poker game against Jerkov, the company sends three Tanks to the streets of Lubyanka to destroy Jerkov's cars, but are thwarted by Claude.
Red Phone Jobs[]
Eventually, Jerkov sends Claude, Ivan and a group of Russian mercenaries to cause a massacre at the Vedic Temple and kill several Hare Krishna. Sometime later, a group of Russian gangsters with knowledge on an informant are captured by the Zaibatsu Corporation, and Jerkov sends Claude to the Zaibatsu Power Cores in Escobar to get them all out alive. Learning that the informant intends to reveal intimate information about Jerkov's wife to the police, Jerkov has Claude steal a Cop Car (and uniform) and track down the informant's car with the sirens on. The informant is easily coerced into being driven out to Lubyanka Docks, where members of the Russian Mafia – including Jerkov's own son – are waiting to have him brutally executed.
Death[]
Unbeknownst to Jerkov, Claude has been working behind his back the whole time, as he was hired by Hare Krishna boss Sunbeam and the Zaibatsu boss Uno Carb. While working for the Krishna, Claude kidnapped a group of Russian Mafia workers in Mad Island to be converted into Krishna monks and stopped Master Lepus' assassination ordered by Jerkov. While working for the Zaibatsu, Claude caused the death of Russian weapons expert Bilovski, invaded the Russian Mafia's compound in order to retrieve the Zaibatsu's stolen AI Brain Units, and caused a gang war between the Kovski and the Krishna.
In addition, Claude was also killing Jerkov's Kovski men to gain respect from the Hare Krishna and get more jobs from Sunbeam.
Eventually, Jerkov realizes he and the Kovski Russian Mafia were being manipulated by Claude the whole time, and goes after him. Meanwhile, Sunbeam and Uno Carb also find out they are being played by Claude and also go hunting for him. Shortly after, all three bosses track down Claude around the Industrial District.
Jerkov arrives in a Kovski Bulwark and armed with an S-Uzi Machine Gun, but is ultimately killed by either Claude Speed in self-defense before leaving town or by his rival gang bosses.
