- Education:
- Work to ensure students of all ages receive a quality education (Pre-K through Post-Secondary)
- Ensure children are provided with a safe and effective learning environment
- Ensure students receive an education that prepares them for adulthood
- Develop additional/alternative education methods for post high school (for example: technical/vocational education)
- Jobs and Economy:
- Protect the rights of senior citizens and veterans, and develop methods to build a stronger economy within the 42nd District
- Work to increase jobs and improve infrastructure (roads, water, sewer, other utilities/services)
- Advocate for a safe working environment, competitive/equal wages and benefits, and ensure pensions for all workers in West Virginia
- Encourage entrepreneurship and assist existing small businesses in order to ensure their sustainability
- Increase efforts for attracting new businesses and industries to the 42nd District
- Environment, Agriculture, and Community:
- Work to sustain and grow the farming industry within the 42nd District and the State of West Virginia
- Ensuring that all waterways and land are safe, unharmed, and are preserved for future generations
- Work with law enforcement and appropriate organizations to combat drug abuse that is plaguing the 42nd District and the state of West Virginia
- Work with community organizations to end child abuse and domestic violence in the 42nd District and state of West Virginia

2014
Elections for the West Virginia House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 13, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. District 42 is represented by two delegates. Coy Flowers and Courtney Jesser defeated Richard Dulee in the Democratic primary. Incumbents George Ambler and Denny Canterbury were unopposed in the Republican primary. Ambler and Canterbury defeated Flowers and Jesser in the general election.[1][3]
