Long Summary[]
The chapter opens with Usopp and Chopper introducing the concept of the chapter, explaining that it will focus on Portgas D. Ace.
The Brownbeard Pirates raid Foodvalten, claiming it as their own territory. However, they are attacked by Ace (pretending to be a civilian) and Marco, who proclaim the island to be under Whitebeard's protection; though Brownbeard tries to recruit them, he is swiftly defeated, restoring peace to the island. The islanders throw a party to celebrate, during which Marco tricks Ace into speaking to Whitebeard over Den Den Mushi. After the call is over, the two Commanders discuss Ace's search for Teach, and Ace complains about having no leads. Overhearing them, Brownbeard tells Ace about a rumour that the Drum Kingdom was attacked by a pirate named "Blackbeard". Thanking Brownbeard for the information, Ace resolves to go there next. Moving on, Marco asks Ace about his brother, telling him about rumours that he wiped out the Baroque Works agents stationed on Whisky Peak and is traveling with the princess of the Arabasta Kingdom.
Sometime later, Ace arrives in the Drum Kingdom, where he asks for information about Blackbeard. However, he arrived too late: the pirate already left the island, and the residents have no idea where he went. While he eats a meal, he is interrupted by Dr. Kureha, who doesn't recognize him; they become fast friends, and Kureha tells Ace about the pink snow she's been working on. After Ace brings up Luffy, they discuss Baroque Works, and Ace decides to wait for Luffy at Arabasta. As he leaves the bar, he shows Luffy's wanted poster to the island's residents, and asks them to leave a message on where to find if they see Luffy.
Leaving the Drum Kingdom, Ace sails for Arabasta, passing the Swanda Express on its way to Little Garden.
Upon arriving in Arabasta, Ace loses his Vivre Card, and begins looking all over for it. As he searches, he runs into Miss All Sunday, who returns the lost paper. After thanking her, he leaves another message for Luffy, asking her to tell Luffy that he's waiting. After Ace leaves, Mr. Mellow asks Miss All Sunday why they didn't go after Ace's bounty, and she explains that she didn't want him to interfere in Operation Utopia.
At Spice Bean, Ace is confronted by Smoker, and they prepare to fight. However, before they can start, Smoker is hit from behind by a man in a straw hat, throwing both him and Ace into the bar. Ace stands up, and seeing Luffy's silhouette, gets excited; however, he instead sees Demalo Black, to his shock. As Ace finally finds Luffy, he is pushed down by Smoker, who attacks the younger pirate and causes him to run from the restaurant. Smoker gives chase, but is stopped by Ace, who holds off the Marines while the Straw Hat Pirates escape.
On the island's shoreline, Luffy tells his crewmates about Ace, who appears behind them. He introduces himself to the Straw Hats and thanks them for taking care of Luffy in his stead. He gives them his Vivre Card and leaves, proud of how Luffy's grown in the three years since he last saw him. As he sails away, he is attacked by a small fleet of Baroque Works soldiers, but easily destroys their ships, impressing the Straw Hats. Suddenly, a group of shipwrights from Water 7 appear offering to repair the ships, shocking Ace.
Two years later, Koala questions Sabo's decision to go to a "certain island", noting that other Revolutionaries have already researched it. Sabo explains that he finally found the Devil Fruit he's been searching for, and resolves to recover the Mera Mera no Mi.

Trivia[]
- Marco states that the Drum and Arabasta Kingdoms are close to Foodvalten, despite Foodvalten being in the New World and the two Kingdoms being in Paradise.
- When Ace learns of Kureha's pink snow, he suggests putting it on Edward Newgate's mustache, turning him into "Peachbeard", nearly three years before the actual Peachbeard debuted.
- Demalo Black is depicted in his "Fake Luffy" appearance, as a gag implying that he dressed that way unrelated to Luffy. However, this includes the scar under his eye, which was revealed to be fake nearly nine years later.
