What could have been a creepy stalker thriller was a big ass mess with no real story and bad writing. And honestly just gross. Lol. Truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

While the movie begins with a really cliche tragedy to set up our lead’s trauma and ultimate character journey, this ends up being a really solid cat and mouse action-thriller. It also surprised me by having a decent amount of horror elements as well. The movie is extremely well-shot and edited and adds a lot to the intensity. Charlize Theron was great as always and definitely bad ass with her muscles working overtime in this one. Taron Egerton plays brilliantly against type in this as the psychotic villain. He plays the role with great lunacy as well as just the right amount of camp. The two play off of each other really well and have some great fight scenes. With Netflix known for having more duds than hits, this is definitely one of the better films I’ve seen from them. Very much recommend this one if you enjoyed movies like The River Wild, Wolf Creek, and to an extent, Wrong Turn.

A good story, just needed some rewrites to feel less flat, and definitely a reworked and less goofy final act. Acting was solid all around though.

The Drama is a dark rom com that will certainly get audiences talking after it’s over. As someone who loves dark humor and dark comedies, I was all in. After Zendaya’s character Emma reveals her truth within the first 15-20 minutes, you’ll probably know whether this movie will be for you or not. What happens after that turns into a dark romantic comedy with a big morality think piece. But that doesn’t mean we get some massive cringe moments and messy behavior throughout until it culminates in an even messier final act. Just to put this out there, none of our focal characters are outright good people (except for Mamoudou Arnie’s character Mike). Alana Haim’s character (Mike’s wife) tries to act like she’s the moral police when honestly I think she was the worst of the bunch. After Emma’s secret is revealed it’s interesting to watch how it affects the couple and those around them as things spiral. Everyone in the cast does a great job. Zendaya does a fantastic job showing Emma deal with the repercussions of what she’s revealed and grappling with her past, while Robert Pattinson’s Charlie grapples with how well he knows his fiancee and if he can go through with the wedding. This is definitely one of the rare anti-romantic comedies that isn’t sweetness and happiness. And honestly I loved it and could very well end up being one of my top favorite films of the year.

Lord this movie was triggering, but also messy (the good messy, not bad). Celeste is such a terrible person. It’s definitely a dark comedy because this is so not what you’d expect from an Adam Sandler produced film. It won’t be memorable by any means, but if you enjoy a good “mean girl” movie like Heathers, Jawbreaker, and Mean Girls (again not saying this is on the same level), you’ll probably enjoy this. Sadie Sandler is wonderful and charming as our shy lead Devin, who ends up becoming a bad bitch. Chloe East does such a great job of making you despise her character Celeste. We have some solid supporting characters too such as the two leads’ floor mates across the hall, Devon’s younger brother, and Devon’s parents played by Natasha Lyonne and Nick Kroll. We also get some fun cameos by a few other young stars. I will admit the ending is a little messy is how it quickly tries to wrap things up though. I also don’t think we necessarily needed the wraparound story. It easily could have cut 10-15 minutes or used it to made the ending less clunky. One of the better Netflix comedies I’ve seen in a while.

I was very much surprised with this movie. I went in with lower expectations because the trailers made it look like a super generic possession movie. I ended up enjoy this a lot as it hooked me from start to finish, for being over 2 hours I was never bored and it went by fast. While it is a possession movie, there is a lot of mummy elements wrapped around it and I really liked how it toyed with the mummy lore we’ve known of in other iterations. The gore effects and make up effects are all fantastic and I really loved editing and cinematography. The cast all do a great job here, especially the actress who plays Katie who has a lot of great physical, vocal, and facial acting. The horror is also really well done as well and it’s pretty disturbing. I’m definitely interested now in seeing what else Lee Cronin can do. I wasn’t crazy about Evil Dead Rise, but this made me more interested. Just a stronger script with better characters to invest in and better directing.

One of the best rom-coms I’ve seen in a long time. Granted the com is fairly light, but it’s still such a great light-hearted and feel-good movie. It’s like While You Were Sleeping in Italy. Halle Bailey is such a ray of sunshine while Rege-Jean Page is super charming, and the two have very sweet chemistry. We also have amazing and lovable supporting characters in Halle’s fake fiancé’s family as well as her hilarious best friend Claire back at home. But the biggest scene stealer is the hilarious and supportive cab driver Halle befriends named Lorenzo. On top of this we have the amazing and beautiful location of Italy to elevate the tone and mood. It’s also not without its emotional moments either as Halle’s character is becoming part of this newfound family after not having one since the death of her mom. It’s a genuinely sweet film that any fan of the rom-com genre will enjoy.

Far from the worst shark movie I’ve ever seen, but it’s also far from one of the best. The movie is basically Crawl but with sharks. I was hoping this would be more fun than it was, and while it clocks in under 90 minutes, it felt super slow. None of the characters were really all that interesting and the script relied on surface levels attributes for us to care about them. We have a woman on the verge of giving birth, a trio of mistreated foster children, and a young girl with no parents and has agoraphobia. The cast do a good job with what they’re given, but it’s such dry material and terrible dialogue. Our hero of the movie is Djimon Hounsou. Again, does a good job with what he’s given, but the same thing applies to the character. That said though, I’m liking seeing him get more lead roles. The sharks themselves look pretty good for the most part, but there’s a few iffy moments. The attacks are basic, except for one gnarly kill around the final act. One of the other problems with this movie is that it’s neither fun, nor truly scary. There is one scene involving the pregnant woman in the final act that pretty much matches a big scene in A Quiet Place that’s pretty intense, but that’s about it. If you’re curious about the movie and watch any shark flick you can get, go for it. But I’d so go in with lowered expectations.

I honestly enjoyed this more than the first. Not by a lot, but because everything is established as far as the world and characters. I felt the story was more fun and action filled, the character dynamics were solid, and I liked seeing everyone working as a team this time around. The relationship between Bowser and Bowser Jr was really good, and the backstory they give Peach and her ultimate storyline I really enjoyed as well. It made me laugh in quite a few parts and had some great nods to the games. Yoshi was the biggest stand out for me in the film and I just loved anytime he was on screen. The animation was fantastic here because of the world/galaxy and characters we’re following. Definitely a satisfying sequel that fans of the first film will enjoy.

A decent enough Lifetime movie. It’s like Rear Window meets The Stepfather (sort of). Teri Polo does a good job of playing the lead role just serious enough (without being too serious) as the grieving widow getting back into dating life after her daughter insists, and begins to suspect her new man is a killer. Dylan Walsh plays the role just enough as the new beau/potential killer knowing full well he’s in a Lifetime movie. Which is funny enough since he was in the remake of The Stepfather playing a killer in that. And Jamie-Lynn Sigler does a good job as the best friend. The motive is super bonkers in that it’s so over the top, but in the best way possible from a Lifetime movie. Worth the $2.99 to rent after it premiered on Lifetime last night.

Kudos to the trailers for cleverly only giving a taste of what the movie is and doesn’t spoil as much as you think. This movie is bonkers in the best way possible. Zazie Beetz is absolutely fantastic as our final girl and is a total bad ass and super funny in it. She shows up intending to be the new maid at this huge high rise, only to find there’s some wild shit happening. Patricia Arquette does a great job as our main antagonist while being very subtle in the performance. We also have fun supporting performances from Tom Felton and Heather Graham. The gore and violence is off the charts brutal and fun, and the mix of practical and cgi looks good. There’s also plenty of fun set pieces and sequences. My personal favorite being a sequence in a crawl space. This movie is a fun, wild, and campy ride. Honestly enjoyed it more than Ready or Not 2.

Pretty Lethal is a fun and bloody movie that follows a group of ballerinas who become trapped by group of violent criminals and now must fight to escape. The movie is like a combination of Green Room and Sucker Punch. It’s an entertaining movie, but there really isn’t a whole lot going on otherwise. Not much character development for our protagonists, and it’s really a pretty thin plot. The stakes aren’t very high either. The cast all do a good job here in their roles, though Iris Apatow I feel isn’t the best actress. Uma Thurman does well with what she has, which isn’t a whole lot and deserved more. The fight scenes, choreography, and kills are all solid though. It’s a decent hour and a half movie if you have any interest.

The movie is literally You’ve Got Mail but with car shops instead of book shops. That said, it was still a charming rom com with the two leads providing good performances. Likable supporting characters too.

Despite a committed performance from Abigail Breslin, the movie just feels way too much like a remake of the movie Before I Go To Sleep with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. In addition, it feels a convoluted with the reveals and the obvious red herrings. It also lacks any real thrills and is honestly pretty boring. Regular Lifetime viewers may enjoy it, but I definitely recommend Before I Go To Sleep more.
