I had great expectations for this one. An effective trailer and some very positive reviews and word to mouth made me excited for a Thriller that some compared to “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Seven”. But yeah… after seeing it I’m afraid this one can't compete with the quality of these films. Don’t get me wrong, it is a solid little Thriller. Well shot and acted but by no means a classic of the Genre.

I like slow-burn Thriller that are able to create a dense atmosphere and create a feeling of unease. And Longlegs did that. But I can’t help but feel a little disappointed by the movie as a whole. Especially the ending left me a little cold and had me scratching my head. Maybe it’s because I did not fully understand it but for me something was missing. I felt unsatisfied.

All in all, Longlegs is a decent little Thriller and worth checking out if you are into these kinds of movies. I admire what the director Osgood Perkins (son of legendary actor and Psycho star Anthony Perkins) accomplished with a very limited budget. Apparently the movie was completed with under 10 million Dollars. That is impressive and I will always root for original movies like that to succeed.

I’m glad the movie found its audience and is doing well at the box office. I might have expected a little too much of it for me to be fully satisfied. With a lot of good will, I’ll rate the movie 3 ½ stars. That is solid, but I had hoped the movie would blow me away. That, it did not quite accomplish. Still worth a recommendation for Thriller fans.
