Got me pretty much right from the get go with such an oppressing grim mood. Its opening is excellent. Really liked the shot composition, it always felt like the steady shots had ample space in frame that could be occupied by a frightening development. I thought the best parts of Longlegs were the things that aren't at the forefront. There's a strange feeling of indifference to the terrifying events, like nobody's that invested or that the horror isn't even that abnormal, which is oddly frightening.
Maika Monroe is excellent and Nic Cage was doing a good job. I'd say the first two acts really had me gripped. Then the final act became overbearing in a way that I did not enjoy, with lots of narration explicitly outlining the twists and turns, which made it feel a lot less understated. The very end of the film was bad as well, feels like shouting "BOO!" after finishing telling a scary story instead of letting it dwell.
Its primary strength is that it retains a sort of horrible vibe that makes you relish the breeze and sunlight when you get out of the cinema, so for that it deserves its flowers.
