"Rockin' Roadsters!" is the first segment of the twenty-sixth episode of Mickey Mouse Mixed-Up Adventures.
Synopsis[]
The gang is invited to compete in Billy Beagle's Hot Rod Switcheroo. It starts with a race to the parking lot where the last roadster that arrives has their car removed. Then they must walk around the switcheroo circle and ride in each other's roadster, and each racer must do the same thing until only two are left for the finish line.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Donald cleaning up his roadster. Goofy comes too see it and Donald gets worried that Goofy is about to touch it and make it dirty again and that he’d like to keep it that way. Suddenly, Mickey tells him, Goofy, Minnie, Daisy, and Pete that they just got a video invite from Billy Beagle. He had invented a race based on his favorite game when he was a child, Musical Chairs. It’s called Billy B’s Hot Rod Switcheroo. It begins with a race to the parking lot of the stadium, and the last roadster to arrive will be out. The gang sets off to play as Pluto stays and watches the garage.
Minnie’s Pink Thunder arrives last, and therefore her roadster is out. Billy shows the six drivers (Mickey, Daisy, Pete, Minnie, Goofy, Donald) and five roadsters (Hot Diggity Hot Rod, Snapdragon, Tubster, Super Crusher, and Cabin Cruiser). Billy explains that when the music plays, the drivers walk around the roadsters in what Billy calls a switcheroo circle. He asks Chip and Dale to turn on the music. He then explains that all you have to do is walk around the circle. When the music stops, the drivers hop into the nearest roadster they can find and use it to drive to the next switcheroo circle, and the last roadster to arrive is out. The drivers start walking around the circle. While Goofy walks, he smells hot dogs and gets distracted. The music stops and the gang fights for roadsters. Donald successfully gets his roadster, Minnie gets Pete’s roadster, Mickey and Daisy get their opposite roadsters, and Pete gets Goofy’s roadster. Goofy is out and the gang drives to the second switcheroo circle.
Minnie doesn’t like the music that’s playing on Pete’s roadster. She tries to press a button to turn it off, but activates windshield wipers instead. She then presses another button that drops thumbtacks all over the road. Mickey drives in them and gets flat tires. Donald sees them too, but he presses a button that lets him get over them and into the lead.
Mickey in Daisy’s Snapdragon is out and Chip and Dale remove it. There are now five drivers and four roadsters. The gang walks around the circle. Chip and Dale stop the music and the gang fight for roadsters again. Pete whacks Donald away, which causes Donald to whack Mickey away and Pete to get Donald’s Cabin Cruiser. Donald lands in Mickey’s roadster and Mickey lands in Pete’s roadster. Daisy gets Goofy’s roadster, and therefore Minnie is out. Donald realizes Pete has his roadster. Pete thanks him for it and says that he’ll take real good care of it. They drive to the third switcheroo circle. Daisy has trouble starting up the Tubster but manages to do it anyway.
Donald in Mickey’s Hot Diggity Hot Rod arrives last and gets taken away. With four drivers and three roadsters, the music and walking happen again. When the music stops, Daisy gets Pete’s roadster, Pete gets Goofy’s, and Mickey gets Donald’s, making him upset because he was about to be out. Pete couldn’t fit in the Tubster well because it is too tight for him. He pulls a lever that sends bubbles floating into the air and it launches him away. This gives Donald an idea: if he can get the Tubster, he can stay in the race and keep an eye on his roadster. Donald steals the Tubster, and once Pete lands, Billy, dressed up as an umpire, says “You’re out!” like an ump to Pete. The gang drives to the fourth and final switcheroo circle.
Mickey drives into a mud puddle and makes Donald’s roadster dirty again. Donald reminds him to be careful and he washes it for him. Donald arrives last and the Tubster is out, making the final three drivers Mickey, Daisy, and Donald, and the final two roadsters the Super Crusher and the still clean Cabin Cruiser. The music and walking happen one last time. Donald is really worried about his Cabin Cruiser getting dirty. Mickey reminds him to concentrate and pay attention, but before he could finish his sentence, the music stops and roadster fighting happens one last time. Daisy gets Donald’s Cabin Cruiser, much to Donald and Mickey’s disappointment. Mickey takes Pete’s roadster, meaning that Donald was about to be out, But he accidentally pulls a lever that sends him flying into the air and on top of a building. Donald takes Pete’s roadster, still worried about his roadster getting dirty.
Now there are two roadsters and two drivers who are racing to the finish line. Donald wants Daisy to be careful with his roadster, but Daisy wants Donald to be careful with Pete’s roadster because she is afraid that Donald will press a wrong button. She drives into traffic cones and they land on Donald’s face. He shakes the traffic cones off, but one of them presses a button that lifts the roadster up. He then presses another button that makes a piano fall out and break into pieces. He then makes bricks and a bathtub fall. Donald finally presses the right buttons and pulls the right levers to make everything go back to normal, but suddenly he pulls another lever that activates Pete’s chewing gum blaster. Its target locks on Donald. Donald tries to avoid it but is unsuccessful and gets shot with chewing gum as Daisy crosses the finish line and wins the Hot Rod Switcheroo. Despite the fact that Donald lost, he saved his roadster. Daisy thanks Billy and dedicates her win to Donald and his Cabin Cruiser, which is still clean. Donald tries to get back, but since he was still stuck in chewing gum, he gets sent flying into the air as well and lands on the same building that Mickey landed on. Donald says that Pete’s car has too many levers, and the chewing gum blaster disagrees. The episode ends.
