I’m not sure I’ll ever get over Ledger in this movie. Few “big” performances since have even come close to the level of immersion he got to here.
It’s the hair, the makeup, and the posture, but what sells it most for me is that damn voice.
How does an Australian make himself sound like that? What the hell did he even hear that set him on the course to get there? And how does he make it work so…

That first third still needs about 10 extra minutes to breathe, but man, from the interrogation scene to Alfred consoling Batman is one of the greatest stretches of any of these things. For whatever reason, Joker switching Rachel & Harvey's locations really impacted me more on this watch than it ever had before. Such a perfect, cruel twisting of the knife.

Seeing this and 2001 back-to-back was...... something.
This movie still slaps hard. Seeing it in what I assume was a true IMAX format was one hell of an experience.
I'm still amazed at how anyone could say this isn't the best capekino by a country mile.

Coming up on 9 years since a thunderbolt hit cinema, The Dark Knight has gained, not lost relevancy.
Loss, regret, and bravery are put on the line. While most superhero movies approach these with tears and CGI explosions, The Dark Knight focuses on the aftermath. At the end of the day, what excites me as a movie fan isn't the act of throwing the rock into the pond, it's watching the ripples. That's where the real art lies.
