Gretaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
What was on the screen was the second most entertaining thing I saw in the theater this morning at a packed 10:15am screening on a Saturday.
The most entertaining thing was the two women sitting next to me having the time of their lives. Plenty of snacks, dancing in their seats, just overall being psyched. So wholesome and fun.
Of course this was a delight, and Greta's firing from all cylinders (including a perfectly timed haymaker directed towards a…

Now THIS is how you do a psychological thriller about class disparity. Bong making Todd Phillips look more like, dare I say, a clown?
Parasite is really really great. Fabulous performances, sharp humor and a deep understanding of it’s themes elevates this past it’s already ingenious premise into something more biting and thrilling than I was prepared for.
Snowpiercer is still my go to, but this makes me want to dive even deeper into Bong’s movies.
Rating would be higher,…

My first time seeing this in theaters since November 2014.
Man, what a powerful film. The kind of power that reminds me why I love movies in the first place.
There’s a chance down the line (especially if I have kids) where this leapfrogs The Dark Knight as my favorite Nolan. (Edit: 8/30, it is now)
Not loving this movie is baffling to me.

I full on sobbed in seat F12 of the IMAX theater at AMC Lincoln Square this morning.
This movie is an absolute masterwork in every sense, and the 70mm IMAX format made this a once-in-a-lifetime audio/visual experience that’s right up there with seeing U2 at Sphere.
I never feel more alive than when art is able to move me the way this does.
Chris Nolan undefeated.

Coming up on eight years since it came out, looking at the letterboxd score as a crude but helpful gauge it seems Interstellar has settled in as the seminal sci-fi masterwork I’ve been championing it as from the start.
Nolan’s true masterpiece is as bold and ambitious (in scale, scope and emotion) as any movie that’s been released in the last twenty-something years. Interstellar marked the start of Nolan’s official challenge to Spielberg’s late 80s-early 2000s run where he had all…

It says ‘stay.’
In prep for daddy’s eventual 11th film, as well as a farewell to my beloved apartment in Manhattan, I came into this watch ready to cry. I did.
I’m not going to argue that this is Nolan’s tightest film, or even his best, but I will die on the hill that to date, it is the movie that best encompasses his skills as a storyteller. And it’s just great to see him make a movie as good…

Two tears, 15 seconds apart and one from each eye ran down my face in the final meeting between Coop and Murphy.
Let the record show I’ve been on this movie’s corner the minute I stepped out of the theater after seeing it for the first time. I’m registered to vote and everything.
Nolan: what a guy. What a dude.

I honestly don't know anyone who thinks this movie is bad. But if I did, his name would be Josh, and he'd be my podcast co-host who I totally beat in an Interstellar vs Inception debate #rekt.
Thankfully, there are more Mason's in the world than Josh's, because Interstellar is a masterpiece in science fiction if there ever was one. The plotting is immaculate, the acting (sans Hathaway) is on point and yet again, Nolan's skill explodes off of the…

This is one of those kinds of movies that really comes together on the 3rd or 4th watch. Some may not have that kind of patience, but I sure as hell do, especially with someone like Chris Nolan who has undoubtedly earned the benefit of the doubt.
Interstellar is a piece of art, splattered across the canvas of space. A sci-fi adventure to end all sci-fi adventures. As someone who thinks 2001 is a monumental bore, Nolan is able to…

Literally every minute of this movie has something surreal, clever or hysterical.
I can’t do the “X ACTOR/ACTRESS does WEIRD THING. Cinema is alive.” review bit because there are so many of them, it’s impossible to choose just one.
If we see a movie with half as much imagination than this in the next 9 months, it’ll have been one hell of a year.

La La Land is a celebration. A drink held high for anyone who has the nerve to reach for the stars, even if the odds are slim at catching them.
Right before I saw this, I had an interview in New York City with the company of my dreams.
La La Land couldn't have come at a better time.
Here's to the ones who dream.
I got the gig, btw :)
