I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Tarantino has delivered us his first murder mystery. With echoes of "And Then There Were None" to complement Tarantino's trademark style, this was a thoroughly enjoyable (if slightly long) addition to his filmography.

    The Revenant

    ★★★

While Innaritu is able to get out of his own way unlike THAT OTHER MOVIE, "The Revenant" is still a little too long, a little too poorly plotted and a lot too self-indulgent.

DiCaprio (give him the Oscar), Hardy (one of 2015's best baddies), Poulter (Nicholson eyebrows and all) and Gleeson (needs to act in everything) kept me engaged and interested throughout this movie's dubious run-time.

A powerful, stirring masterclass of acting. As Ron Howard's most polished work, this movie is an extremely underrated surveyal of politics, image, legacy and integrity. Langella gives perhaps the best "based on a real character" performance of all time.

  • Lincoln

    Lincoln

    ★★★★★

Just as, if not more lively and powerfully constructed as I remember it the last time I watched it. Day-Lewis gives a stunning performance as a much more complicated and humorous man than I thought.

By far my second favorite Spielberg film. Endlessly fascinating.

  • Batman vs. Robin

    Batman vs. Robin

    ★★★

A solid, yet disappointing Batman flick. With the high standards set by "Mask of the Phantasm" this can't help but feel like a major step down. I was pretty disappointed at how The Court of Owls were used. The flick strayed too much from my favorite Batman story.

Still worth a watch, but I was left unsatisfied.

Tom Hardy makes this movie worth watching, to be honest. The film around him could probably be better, but that shouldn't detract from how great he is.

Still dark. Still hilarious. Still beautiful.

Not only is Tim Burton's film the first live action Batman film in the modern era, it may be the truest adaptation of the comic book (of its time, at least) we've seen so far.

At the end of the day, my love for this movie comes down to two things. Jack Nicholson and the production design.

First of all, Nicholson wonderfully conveys my favorite side of Joker. The side that would shoot a…

With this flick, Gavin O'Connor has joined a group of directors of whom I will see their new movie no matter what.

He piqued my curiosity with MIRACLE, validated it with WARRIOR and now with this movie, he's really driven it home for me that he is not one to be overlooked.

With JANE GOT A GUN, O'Connor is able to come out with (assisted by an excellent screenplay from Edgerton) an excellent female empowered western. Both elements that stand…

Some things are good. Some are great. Some aren't very groovy at all. But this is Batman so who cares.

Silly, bombastic, ridiculous, fun, on-the-run, mystery, adventure feat. Nicolas Cage.
