Film is by and large a subjective medium, except when it comes to the last 5 minutes of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Nothing beats it. Nothing.

It was no more complicated than that.
There are no less than 30 moments in this movie that send a chill up my spine.

Tommy DeVito deserved to die.
Jimmy Hoffa didn’t.
That’s why this is Marty’s masterpiece.

NOTES REVIEW
- Killing people = bad imo.
- With a culture as self-absorbed, violent and narcissistic as ours can be, I'm genuinely surprised we haven't had another Zodiac-like serial killer.
- Jake Gyllenhaal is both way too handsome to believe as a dork and also way too dorky to be as handsome as he is.
- Mark Ruffalo's voice sounds like a 35-year smoker who just sucked on a bag o helium
- Arthur Leigh Allen probs wasn't Zodiac,…

He belongs to the ages.
A damn shame that a man as morally corrupt and hateful as 45 gets to say he had the same job as Abraham.
One’s death we continue to mourn.
For the others there will be dancing in the streets, especially by yours truly.
This might be Spielberg’s best movie. Definitely Day-Lewis’s best performance.

Christened my first apartment with one of the best movies ever made.

The “piece of shit” bit went completely over my head on the first two watches.
Very good.
This movie bangs, and Johnson’s choice to make the big mystery that the villain is an idiot is so so good.

I wanted to watch Endgame so I fast forwarded through the boring parts.
Ex: Thor building the axe, scenes with Thanos and Gamora.

Bumping this up to a 3 1/2 (4 after Endgame)
Credit where credit its due. This is super rewatchable and just overall impressive in construct. Maybe if Marvel colored their characters with different traits than nobility, humor and arrogance, this could have landed a little better on an emotional level.
As it stands, Infinity War like most that have come before it from Feige is just good enough. My instincts tell me Endgame will be just good enough to get the Avengers brand a few years off before the next big threat turns up.
All things considered, I’m stoked for Friday night.

Re-watching this and taking notes. Enjoy.
- Thanos says something along the lines of "There's no resurrection this time" in the opening scene. Well, we know that's a lie.
- The infinity stones came from the big bang. That's the story I want to see.
- Stan Lee was in no way fit to drive a bus.
- I can see my neighborhood in the NYC establishing shots!!
- The CGI on those Thanos lackies... yikes.
- We still don't…

The Knives Out Curriculum – Mystery 101 with Rian Johnson
Perfect set-up. Perfect execution. One of the best mystery stories ever put to film.
Lumet handles this ensemble perfectly. Everyone has the chance to leave an impression so when the end comes (oh boy) you feel up to speed.
Finney's final monologue is EPIC, and while his performance overall kind of bugs me, he finishes REALLY strong.
Interested in seeing how this influences Knives Out. I hope the resolution of that crime is similar to this one because this might just be Christie's best ending.
Grade: 9/10

Every now and again, The Academy gets it right. Let's hope this year is one of those times and either A Star Is Born or BlackKklansman wins Best Picture.
And FWIW, I like the rat.
