Not so much a CLOVERFIELD sequel/anthology as it is a thriller with CLOVERFIELD references tacked on to make it seem more significant than it is.
I would have much rather had this movie be approached as a self-contained, almost B-movie type suspense or horror film than slapping it with the CLOVERFIELD. The content of the movie doesn't really justify the title.
The movie was still cool, though.
We often champion films as masterpieces because they maintain their relevancy over time. So a masterwork must be something that adds to it.

A charming, vintage and sweet little adventure movie in desperate need of an update.
I regrettably had this as a 1/2 star before tonight’s IMAX viewing.

I liked it a hell of a lot more this time around. If someone shaved off a half hours worth of fat, I could probably bump this up another half star.
DEFINITELY worth checking out in IMAX.

Not as technically proficient as 2001, but I think I like it more.

God, what a perfect ending to this story. We’re sleeping on a possible masterpiece here. Science fiction doesn’t get much better than this.

Solid premise that feels a smidge wasted on a blandish story.
Hate to say it, but if this was made in the 80’s, it would have been a lot more fun.
Billy Crystal’s direction is admirable, and you can feel his passion bursting through the screen, but the way the story is told mostly in prose rather than poetry, which is needed when you tell a baseball story. The script’s also a little rough and moves too fast.
