(この(かしこ)少女(しょうじょ)再教育(さいきょういく)を!, Kono Kashikoi Shōjo ni Saikyōiku wo!) is the twenty-third episode of the KonoSuba anime and the third episode of Season 3, which covers the Prologue and Chapter 2 in Volume 6 of the light novels, or Chapter 55 to Chapter 57 of the manga.

Synopsis[]

What started as dinner at Darkness's mansion with Princess Iris has turned into Kazuma being dragged back to the castle! Rain explains the situation, and Kazuma agrees to keep Iris company. His wild stories leave the princess with stars in her eyes.

Plot[]

Claire who had already finished the arrangements to make Kazuma an official guest of the castle walks into his bedroom to find him narrating to Iris a graphic account of the time a naked Darkness embarrassingly washed his back while addressing the princess as an equal, prompting her to attempt cutting him down in frenzy. Iris however expresses her approval to Kazuma's way of address before asking to hear what the naked Darkness did next, then when Claire tells Kazuma to stop filling the princess' head with those disgusting stories, he instead proceeds to tell of what happened when he won the contest against Darkness in which the winner does unspeakable things to the loser, which Claire frantically tries to stop.

It turned out that following his arrival at the Royal Castle where a line of servants and guards were greeting Iris' return, Kazuma was led into a lavish bedroom that Rain told him was for his use so he can go on telling adventure stories. The royal wizard proceeded to emphasise how Kazuma was "invited" and not kidnapped, and petitioned him to indulge this first bout of egoism from the princess. She next explained on Iris' behalf how bringing him to the castle was a small payback against Darkness for slapping her and being close with Kazuma, before asking to play with him. Finding Iris quite cute, Kazuma agreed to stay behind and play with Iris, as well as asked for his concerned party members to be notified.

After many more stories and Claire dozing off, Kazuma tells Iris of school festivals where children her age operate coffee shops or haunted houses for the purpose of having fun. As Iris wishes she can go to school, which Kazuma suggests her to start establishing, an alarm from the local Adventurer Guild warning of another attack by the Devil King's Army suddenly sounds all over the capital, and following Claire heading out to join the defending knights and adventurers, Iris explains that it is impossible for children to peacefully study in this wartime environment, reminding Kazuma of how dangerous it is in this world where even the Royal Capital can get attacked.

The night raid by the Devil King's Army is soon beaten off by knights and adventurers, and Kazuma despite being relieved at the rapidity of the skirmish starts wishing to leave this warzone. Iris thus proposes to have Rain send him back to where he will be safer, an offer Kazuma makes to accept. Yet when Iris speaks of how her big brother Jatice used to talk like Kazuma whom she actually wants to stay longer, Kazuma asks her to call him a "big brother", and accordingly makes up his mind to remain at the castle.

Waking up the next morning, Kazuma asks his assigned "Sebastian" Heidel for coffee while sitting in the way of an embarrassed Mary as she changes the sheets. He next excitedly stands up when Iris comes visiting, only to reveal that he had been sleeping in his trunks, something he later explains was because he had no pajamas with him. Kazuma then spends the next few days as Iris' playmate, much to Claire's vexation, as well as distract Iris from her lessons with Rain using a bamboo dragonfly. Iris later asks him to play a boardgame with her, which the confident Kazuma ends up making her continue playing until dusk in an attempt to rectify his losing streak. Finally winning a match after nightfall, Kazuma who acts cocky over it, much to Iris' exasperation, gifts the bamboo dragonfly to her. He next suggests her travelling to more places, where strange things such as a Demon beloved by locals and a Lich who survives on bread crusts exist. Iris who doubts it, however, laments that she has to be accompanied by knights or other escorts for security whenever going out.

A week since he arrived at the Royal Castle, Kazuma having asked Heidel for coffee upon waking hears someone approaching the door. Initially thinking that it is Mary coming to change his sheets and proceeding to sexually harass her like nobles do, he is surprised to see instead his irate party members entering. As Darkness shames him for his sexual harassment, Kazuma gets riled up at them showing up. Darkness though calls him out for causing trouble and making Megumin worried sick, then as Megumin denies it makes to drag Kazuma back home. The resisting Kazuma accordingly yells about being appointed as Iris' official playmate, a job Darkness cites doesn't exist, before Aqua expresses jealousy over Kazuma getting to stay at a castle. When Iris walks in on their conversation, Darkness pleads for her to release Kazuma so his friends in Axel won't get worried, which to Kazuma's great disappointment Iris agrees to do.

At the royal banquet Iris throws that night for bidding Kazuma farewell, Aqua and Megumin shamelessly glut themselves on the feast in a manner that makes Kazuma who feels out of place among the royalty and nobility present more embarrassed. He soon spots a beleaguered Darkness being surrounded by young noblemen asking for her hand in marriage, before Aldarp walks up declaring them all to be unsuitable as Darkness' suitor. After Aldarp roars at the surprised Kazuma for blowing up his mansion with the Destroyer's core, he contrary to his usual obsession with Darkness, clarifies to the noblemen how only Prince Jatice, who is now away warring the Devil King's Army, qualifies to be the suitor of Darkness now that she had defeated multiple Devil King's Generals. The jealous Kazuma however addresses Darkness by her real name as well as blurt out their intimate relationship. The horrified Darkness thus frantically grabs onto Kazuma, then without hesitating displays her brute strength before the alarmed noblemen to twist his arm and shut him up.

Later sulking alone on the balcony over how he got vexed by Darkness' popularity since he is supposed to be the focus of the banquet, Kazuma is approached by Iris just as Aqua during a performance inside conjures a Giant Toad. Iris next expects herself to miss his presence despite Claire and Rain seeing him as an eyesore, and goes on to describe him as the only one who doesn't act apprehensive in front of her in addition to his flaws that she finds appealing. The princess accordingly expresses her jealousy of Darkness because she can be close to Kazuma, making him consider performing some great feat in the capital so that he gets to remain in the castle as an indispensable asset. He next hears of Iris wishing to become an adventurer like the noble thief who had become the talk of town, and upon further questioning is told of how this thief invades the residences of crooked nobles to steal their wealth for donation to orphanages of the Eris Order, which in turn inspires the great idea of him capturing the thief.

Excitedly rushing back into the ballroom with Iris in tow, Kazuma loudly tells Darkness and Claire about his idea of catching that noble thief. Attracting the less-than-approving comments from the nobles around him which he ignores, he claims to be doing this out of his sense of justice. The nearby nobles accordingly applaud Kazuma's conviction while making obviously false assertions of themselves being clean, with Iris also looking at him with admiration while the clueless Aqua and Megumin also make to tag along. Yet contrary to Kazuma's hopes, Claire instead charges him with staking out the residence of the noble who is most likely to be targeted next, who turns out to be Aldarp, much to the displeasure of both him and Kazuma.
