Blessings for This Selfish Bride! (この
Synopsis[]
Darkness's wedding to Aldarp is imminent. Despite Aqua's and Megumin's pleas, Kazuma has no intention of intervening. Vanir then visits the mansion and reveals a shocking secret to Kazuma.
Plot[]
As Aldarp spends a fortune advertising around Axel his upcoming wedding with Darkness, Kazuma despite Megumin nagging him to rescue their Crusader, only sulks within his mansion making bubble wrap unless the stubborn Darkness comes begging in tears for his help, and becomes irritated when the annoyed Arch Wizard dances all over the bubble wrap to pop the air bubbles for relieving stress.
He on the next day gets handed a letter by Hagen, which turns out to be a threatening letter penned by Megumin that warns House Dustiness of an Explosion occurring during the wedding at the church it is held, prompting Kazuma to give the explosion loli a stern lecture over her criminal attempt to thwart the wedding. After several more days of doing nothing, Kazuma is called by Hagen to stop Aqua's attempt to lure Darkness outside by imitating the Ama no Iwato legend through performing tricks such as conjuring out a Beginner's Bane at the gates of the Dustiness manor, since the racket is disturbing the bedridden Ignis.
Megumin stumbles home a few days afterwards following her incarceration from sending threatening letters, but when chided by Kazuma during dinner, instead blows up and calls him names for simply waiting for Darkness to beg for help. Next glumly muttering about liking Kazuma because he will save his party members no matter what, Megumin has her intention of swaying him unmasked, and madly attacks him as a result.
Finally on the day of the marriage, Kazuma still designing new products at the party's mansion prevents Megumin from going to ruin the wedding through throwing Explosions. Upon being criticised for simply letting Darkness marry the governor so he can have his way with her, Kazuma angrily expresses his resentment, before divulging what he had found out about Aldarp during the past few days. It turns out that Aldarp is known to have forced himself onto many pretty girls through whatever means possible, only to abandon them soon after losing interest. Yet for some reason, no irrefutable evidence for his crimes was discovered. Kazuma accordingly confesses his helplessness as a commoner who won't be able to sneak into a well-guarded wedding between nobles, which forced him to wait for Darkness coming to him for help. After hearing him brood on mere adventurers like them not supposed to adventure alongside a noble in the first place, Megumin heads out to solve the problem through a way that doesn't make her regret it.
Left behind to wallow in powerlessness, Kazuma is then surprised when Vanir bursts in to the rescue with a business deal. Responding to Kazuma's demands to send Wiz in his stead by recounting how the "debt-maker" shopkeeper had purchased a pendent that blows up both the dying wearer and his companions, Vanir being impressed by the new products Kazuma had diligently designed, offers to buy all of his intellectual property in exchange for the money in the bag he brought along, a deal he had already foreseen will be accepted by Kazuma, who is caught between wanting to save Darkness and fearing her rejection. During the ensuing inspection of the product prototypes, the All-Seeing Demon who knows what Kazuma wants to ask him assures the Adventurer that both their goals align. But before he can answer the questions on how come the Dustiness household found themselves in debt and why were there no proof of Aldarp's multiple crimes, Vanir gets hit by Aqua's Sacred Exorcism and crumbles, forcing him to regenerate a new body for his cracked mask while Kazuma reprimands the plumbing goddess.
Following the departure of Hagen who had come for business with Aqua and Kazuma clobbering her into calmness, Vanir explains to the remaining pair that Darkness' debt all sparked from the adventurers destroying the Mobile Fortress Destroyer, which up till then had been annihilating towns to leave the governors as homeless as the common folk. Although the town of Axel itself didn't suffer damage, the farmlands and irrigation channels in the surrounding area were ravaged by the Destroyer prior to its destruction. Left without their wealth and livelihoods, the farmers sought help from Aldarp only to be refused, so they instead went begging the Dustinesses for aid, because their household had previously shouldered the majority of the bill for the flood damages caused by one party of adventurers during the battle against Beldia, despite them having to sell off the majority of their assets.
As Kazuma and Aqua listen on in shock, Vanir continues about Darkness bowing down to Aldarp in order to borrow money from him for aiding those afflicted by the Destroyer, even though the condition was using her body as collateral if the head of her household cannot meet his financial obligations. Unable to hold back his anger anymore, Kazuma asks Vanir for the amount of the debt, which turns out to equal the money in Vanir's bag in addition to his own life savings, now that he has made up his mind to accept the Demon's deal.
In the bridal preparation chamber at the church of Eris where the marriage is being held, Darkness wearing a bridal dress is praised for her beautiful appearance by some new maids who have no idea how much sorrow this marriage brings to her family. She then hears a butler outside the door stop the impatient Aldarp from barging in to see her, even as the governor threatens him with reprisal once he becomes their master after the marriage. Darkness thus expresses her gratitude to the butler, who plans to quit anyways rather than serve Aldarp, and advises her not to play too intensely by herself before taking his leave. Reminded of how that disreputable rumour was sparked because her voice got mimicked, the embarrassed Darkness then reminisces on her joyful year of adventuring with the adventurers of Axel. Further contemplating about her former party members' reactions upon hearing of how she raked up the debt, she dismisses the possibility of Kazuma showing up, before Hagen informs her that the wedding ceremony overseen by the most powerful priest in the city is about to start.
As nearby nobles and other notable faces in town including the Ruffian fill the chapel pews despite little anticipation of the ceremony, the guards of Aldarp stationed outside the church prohibit the crowds of gathered adventurers curious to see Darkness in bridal dress from entering. Darkness walking down the aisle with Hagen leading her in place of the ailing Ignis, however, enraptures everyone with her beauty, while Aldarp waiting at the altar alongside the priest and her assistants evilly looks forward to the blessings being over and done with.
But to everybody's utter surprise, the masked priest hired for the ceremony turns out to be Aqua, whose words of blessing are actually ridicule towards Aldarp. After the governor howls in outrage, the hooded Kazuma beside Aqua throws away his disguise as he internally writes to his parents about him picking a fight with the most powerful man in the area by kidnapping an heiress, before telling Darkness to go home with him.

Differences to other versions[]
- After Megumin pops the bubble wrap, Kazuma in the light novel takes it out on Aqua when she sings to Emperor Zel's egg.
- The light novel specifies that Megumin's arrest was because of her sending threatening letters to Aldarp, and was only set free thanks to Darkness sending a servant to negotiate with the police.
- Instead of eating dinner following her return, in the light novel she collapses onto the couch, and subsequent to Kazuma seeing through her intention of swaying him with words of love, Megumin is offered a sandbag to take out her stress on, only for her to hack at it with Chunchunmaru and reduce it to rubbish.
- During Megumin's incarceration in the light novel, Aqua continues performing tricks in front of the Dustiness manor, to the point people begin setting up stalls around there since it had became a sightseeing attraction.
- When telling Megumin what he had found out about Aldarp, Kazuma in the light novel also reveals that the governor had committed other crimes such as exploitation and bribery, in addition to Ignis' reason for settling in Axel being keeping an eye on the governor and finding evidence against him.
- Kazuma elaborates in the light novel how Darkness may refuse the money from him even if he knows how much the debt amounts to, and had once pondered asking for Iris' help only to give up because the marriage is consensual.
- Vanir when asked by Kazuma about Darkness and Aldarp in the light novel, teases him by jokingly offering to tell him instead the colour of Wiz's underwear for the day, yet is unable to taste any negative emotions because that was something Kazuma actually wants to hear about.
- While Aldarp in the anime simply dismissed the farmers begging for aid by saying that grass may start growing back in a few years, in the light novel he actually tells them to try begging from the richly rewarded adventurers.
- After recollecting about her year of adventuring in the light novel, Darkness plans to discover the secret of Aldarp always getting away with his crimes while he is engrossed in her body, even if the marriage disgusts her more than ever now that she is located in a church with traces of divine powers.
- In the light novel, Aqua and Kazuma simply disguise themselves in the church with cloaks, while Aldarp wears a white tuxedo as he walks along the aisle alongside Darkness whom he becomes entranced by.
