With Mooreâs law coming to an end, optimizing code to avoid performance pitfalls is becoming more and more useful. To this end, programming languages like Rust are designed to produce fast and memory-efficient programs out-of-the-box. When that is not sufficient, profilers like perf are useful to measure where the code is slow and therefore which algorithms and data structures should be optimized.
