Summertime

Well, at least it is on its way ... we have moved our clocks forward an hour now (remembered it this time :-) )

Spring is definitely here, we have had marvellous weather the last few days. I have sat outside in the sun gathering this years first freckles :-)
I decided to make a tabletopper to match my feeling of spring ... well, actually I wanted to try out the twister thingy I bought. It was easy! I should have used another green for one of the windmills instead of turquoise, but it does show up better than in the photo.
And yes, I should have ironed it before I took the photo - I will do that before it goes on my table :-)

And another baby blanket.

Hoping you are enjoying your spring/autumn day!

A dog's life

A dog's life part 2 is ready for the next step. I really enjoy sewing this.
A few pics from the exhibition in Bergen.  This is the motif from some of the manhole covers in the streets of Bergen. It shows well-known Bergen features.
Detail from a quilt. I just love the colours and details in this.
 Just gorgeous!

Pincushion

A finish ... my new pincushion
Yes, it would have been a lovely quilt, but is in fact a pincushion! A pretty one :-)

A grand weekend.

I have had a great weekend in Bergen although it rained most of the time (Bergen is well known for rain!).
I attended a couple of workshops - the first one was with Marti Michell and Double Wedding Ring.
I just love that pattern and she taught us how to use the template set she has designed. I was handsewing, so I didn't get much done .. but it's a start. I'm going to change one of the fabrics I have used - one of the lilac colours "disappears", but I got a brighter one to try instead.

The other workshop was English paper piecing. I was on the lookout for that rotating board and suddenly Sue Daley's book decided to come home with me, too. And a few other bits and pieces .......
Saturday I met up with friends and we went for a meal and then on to the cinema for "Mission Impossible 4" with Tom Cruise. It was entertaining and we enjoyed ourselves.

DS was pleased with his new quilt - it fit the bed perfectly!

So now I have some projects to work on (!!) I think I will do some more sewing.
Have a nice day!

To the rescue ...

Started with a phone call from DS#2. "By the way, that wool blanket I used as a bedcover? Well, I pressed the wrong button on the washing machine and it is now half the size and stiff as a rug. "
I was just surprised it had lasted as long as it has.
But DS is living in a studio flat -one room- so that means his bed is in his living room. Nice to be able to cover it up, right?
So you know what happened then?
Backing ok, mum - just pull that corner out some more.
Yes, it is BIG! So I had to use the big table.
It's 2x1.75 m! Being in a hurry, I opted for an easy pattern :-)  Tiffi doing the final checking.
All fabrics pulled from my stash.
And several of the blocks are connected to DS.  Like this one - the same fabric as the curtains I made for his first flat.
And he loves animals, especially the dogs.

We went to Mandarin classes together - so here are some Chinese (I hope) characters.
He is a musician, too - plays the guitar in a heavy metal band - so he needs some instruments.
And this is pure Mum fun - when he was a baby he had a comforter he took everywhere with him - I saved the last bits and sewed two blocks of the material.
Today it was washed and is ready for me to take with me to Bergen tomorrow.
The Norwegian Quilt Ass. are hosting their annual conference this weekend in Bergen. I am going to attend a couple of workshops and look forward to the exhibition.
I'll also be able to catch up with friends while I'm there. DS lives right in the middle of the town, so he is getting a visitor for a few days:-) ! So he deserves a surprise quilt!

Not fair!

Not again! Grey sky and SNOW!! I really wanted Spring now!
Oh well, at least the dogs aren't so dirty when we've been out.
And Happy Birthday darling Tiffi! This should take you a while to chew :-)
Ah! Poor little thing .... not at all! He has one too, of course. He just thinks hers looks tastier.
Don't worry, he might be twice her size, but she's definitely the boss! She'll most likely end up with both rings ... and I'll have to get his for him :-)
No photos of finishes or work in progress. DH brought some sort of bug home from work and kindly passed it on to me. On the mend I think, I can actually see to sew and read again now.
My two nurses (see photo above) have been very attentive and have kept me company on the sofa...
or did they think it was the other way round? Plenty of snuggles and snores (no, not me).

White rabbits ...

March 1st! We have been away a few days. Went to see the in-laws, 7 hour drive each way, but it was worth it to see how far spring has come along on the West coast. Snowdrops and crocuses almost ready to flower. Birds chirping happily in the trees. I love Spring!
My last finish for February - another baby blanket. And I started on a new one during the drive home.

This was waiting for me when I got home. It is so cute. Can't wait to get started on it!

Spring is in the air here as well. While we were away, the snow melted a lot. The sky is blue and the sun is shining and you can really feel the warmth from the sun. (And see the dust indoors - ooops!)
Enjoy this day wherever you are!

Been busy

It’s that time of year ! I have been quite busy and still have more to get done - will have to see how far I get.  I enjoy making a few C...
