Just in time ...

Hmm! Pink, flowery, green - have at last started assembling my Shabby Roses quilt. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
But before I could carry on I had to get these finished for my opam list - loooong (knee high) ski socks for granddaughter. Both kids got slalom skis for Christmas and have been on the slopes pratising each time their dad has been home. Knee highs stop the socks slipping down in their boots (so I've been told).
These are easy to make so the wool for grandson's socks is waiting for telly to start!

Who wants the cold ...?

Not Tiffi ... although she has her new coat with fluffy lining. She hates walking on snow and ice - her feet get so cold she jumps along lifting first one and then another paw. Maybe I should make her boots?
And not Filix ... all the snow has made it difficult to keep his ears dry. He then gets an itch that spreads to his feet (some sort of skin ailment). So then we have to keep him from driving himself and us (!) nuts by licking his feet. The salt on the roads doesn't help either.
Bless him, he is a darling, wags his tail and wears his lampshade with good grace even though he keeps colliding with things. He has worked out how to get on the sofa with it :)
And not me ... I want spring (is it a bit early to start pining?) I've got the cold - a horrible sneezing, coughing, head full of cotton wool thing! To save you the horror of it, I illustrate
with a picture of what things look like from the outside.
So now I'm just waiting for my eyes to coordinate again so I can sew, knit or read! There is so much I should be doing! I'll catch up with you later :)

Nearly there..

I have finished all the Shabby Roses blocks - and now the fun part (or scary part) remains. I'm looking forward to sewing it together. I'm hoping I have enough material in my stash to finish it.
I like this one ... the block title is just perfect.
And I have been filling baskets as well ... September,
October:
December:
Yes, I've got November left, but I just had to do this one before I put Christmassy fabrics aside for a while.
I've also started on some ski socks for the kids, but they have to be loooong, so it might take a while before I can show them.

Yesterday I went to the library and got some more books ... so now I must keep myself on a short rein if I'm going to get anything done, as I have used up today reading!
I read "Miss Pym disposes" by Josephine Tey. A mystery novel first published in 1946! It was a fun read, just relaxation. But time does fly when you're having fun :)
I'll try to get some knitting done while the telly is on this evening !

Enjoy your evening, too:)

Best laid plans ....

Friday Night Sew In results: To be continued.......
I thought I'd get more done, but you know .... life!
Here's the King of the castle! As it has been so beastly cold I have been putting out nuts and seed for the birds. A couple of days ago this fellow turns up with his family (?). And he is the MAN! He has a bright orange beak (can't see it so well on the pic) and he is a tyrant. He shoos away the rest of the family - and other competitors ... he has no compassion and stuffs himself while the others starve.
Of course in the end I felt so sorry for the others that I put out food somewhere else for them -
and he nearly went nuts trying to keep both places for himself!

Ice art

Isn't this the most perfect ice rose?

Actually it's just a blob of frozen
snow in my neighbour's hedge.

I hope you can see how big the crystals are,
they look amazing as the last of the light catches on them.

I've tried to catch the texture...

all the unspoiled snow looks like this
at the moment,

it is just so beautiful.

Lavender blue, dilly, dilly

I just had to go with the nursery rhyme (even though Kris beat me to it this morning - how funny is that!)
I have been sewing lavender sachets for my sister's drawers (sorry, had to...)

Square and blue (well, mostly) with buttons .....

And round and lacy sets with bows on.....

And I still have 1.1/4 bags of lavender left.

Decided to have a break though - I keep feeling drowsy ....
I have put one of the square ones under my pillow...:)

I have another finish to show off ... a jumper for my granddaughter - as usual in thin alpacca wool.

I actually have another finish I can't show - it's not a secret, but got towed off when the car broke down. I had made a winter coat for Tiffi. She was so pleased with it.
I'm hoping to get the car back soon and then I must remember to take a photo of her.

Now I have some of last years boms glaring at me ....so I'd better get my thimble out.
Have fun!

Friday night fun.

Just joined the monthly Friday night sew-in. Just got to choose what to do! Want to join, too? Press the button....

Struggling...

Today I thought I'd have a go at changing blog layout etc. All by myself - no son to correct my mess.
Well, I got the background in place ... ok - but the headbar is giving me another headache!
Look at it! The title clashes with the ... what's it. Rag and Tag have bounced off into cyberspace.. leaving Bobtail with his ears hanging down, completely confused.
Is it possible to put a picture or title in the frame? Is it at all possible to move the title around?
So dear blog whizzes out there .... any advice?

Roll on 2010!

Well, Happy New Year everyone!

I've been away for a few days - spent new year with the in-laws. Cold there, too.
The car broke down on the way home, so now I'm stuck at home. Rather gleefully I imagined quiet days of sewing and finishing off last year's boms. But I've had a killer headache for a couple of days - and I've done nothing! Boohoo! Not impressed with the start of this year.

I hope to be back shortly (!) with pics of my latest work.
Something to do with lavender will pop-up as my sis sent me two bags in the post. One for me for Christmas and her bag that I must wave a magic wand over ..... she can't sew :))

She doesn't trust my poor bushes to recover from this winter, I think.
Not sure I do, either. Brrr!

Tata!

Been busy

It’s that time of year ! I have been quite busy and still have more to get done - will have to see how far I get.  I enjoy making a few C...
