Hearts

The early bird Christmas challenge this month is hearts. I have made 2 giant hearts with pockets on them. You can hide a message in there, put an angel in or a small present ..
I am putting a cotton pad and a bottle of essential oil in mine. This oil is a Christmas mix of cinnamon, cloves and ginger. You can also add orange for Christmas. If you make the hearts from other kinds of fabric, they can hang all year round and have any fragrance you like.
Hang them in a window or doorway, or somewhere there is a draught and the fragrance spreads.
Remember to use the cotton pad. Some oils can discolour fabric. (Guess how I know!)

Red sky at night ...

... shepherd's delight ... well, the sky was beautiful (night before last), but the result wasn't what I hoped for. Unless the shepherd wanted teeming rain!
Autumn is certainly on it's way here. The temperatures have dropped and the sun is just on angel visits (few and far between).
I have finished the jumper and skirt set for miss Muffat. This is how it turned out. Nice for chilly autumn days.
DH sometimes gives talks on EFT (Emotional Freedom techniques) and last night he met the local group for rheumatic patients. A good turn-out - 50 people turned up. He was given this beautiful bouquet of flowers as thanks - which he promptly gave to me when he got home. This is the way I get flowers!!

This weekend will be busy - the grandchildren are coming again. I must think up some in-doors activities this time, I think.

Have a nice weekend, be it autumn or spring :)

Hunting high and low ...

No, I'm not going to A-ha's farewell concert in town .... I can't find a rucksack pattern I bought just before the holidays. Grrr! I don't understand how things can just disappear ... and then sometimes reappear .. so I'm hoping the fairies will give me a hand.

A couple of weeks ago I decided I needed a little pouch for my I-pod and ear-phones. They are always getting tangled up with something else in my bag. So here is the drawstring bag I made. Very handy for all sorts of things.

And very nice Christmas presents I thought, small and light so postage won't be too high. So today I made 6 for my nieces. (2 families so I could make doubles :) )
They are lined (the yellows are brighter in real life) so they actually look quite good. Now all I have to do is think of something small (and low cost) to put in them. I have a little nephew, too - wondering if he would like one, seeing as his sisters will have one each ???

I must go and check out my stash and see if I have something boyish ....
And who else needs one of these .........

Cute

I've had a nasty summer flu this last week and haven't felt like doing much. My two nurses have been very helpful - they decided cuddles and sleep were good remedies. And it seems to have worked ...
This is what I worked on while at the in-laws and I finished it yesterday. It's another block for the mystery quilt I'm doing. This time I
blanket stitched the applique. I'm still better at that than needle-turning. I'd like to live in this cottage with the cats and dogs. :)

Hoping you have a terrific Tuesday!

Sunny Sunday!

Today we have had a beautiful summer day - a while since the last one. And what do kids like to do on sunny Sundays? Build a tree house of course.

That goes for big ones and small ones .... somebody here is reliving moments of childhood ... "do you remember, Dad, when ....."

This is a joint effort... All hands on deck .... more planks, nails, saw this
or was it that ...

And here's the king of the castle! He was as pleased as punch - we did manage to coax him down for dinner. Little miss Muffat decided there were too many ants ! Not even a giant box of old comics could make her sit up there :)

He has big plans for his next visit - he needs a roof for when it rains ...........

This is the stuff memories are made of!

Festival in Flora

Summer festival in Flora - nearest town to my in-laws. So as the sun was shining again, we set off to see the sights.

Veteran cars and motorbikes. The green one looks just like Capt. Hastings'. Didn't see him or Poirot though.

Veteran boats, too - and the Farmer's market.

Of course it wasn't possible to pass the shop I found with quilting bits and pieces. I love these fabrics and have already plans for them. And these embroidery threads are new to me, pretty colours.

Been busy

It’s that time of year ! I have been quite busy and still have more to get done - will have to see how far I get.  I enjoy making a few C...
