Once again, I was in tears at the end. In my humble opinion, “It´s a Wonderful Life” is a perfect film and among the best Golden Age Hollywood has to offer. It´s a beautifully constructed piece of life-affirming cinema filled with well-earned pathos and classic movie flair and every story beat is executed flawlessly. It´s an emotional rollercoaster ride that blends drama, comedy, romance, fantasy, compassionate social commentary, and a timelessly resonating humanist message. And it stars one of cinema´s greatest and most inspiring everyman heroes, George Bailey played by James Stewart. Both Frank Capra and James Stewart are at their absolute best here and just like they did themselves, I consider this film the highlight of both their filmographies. “It´s a Wonderful Life” is an emotionally and spiritually fulfilling warm hug of a movie that always leaves me with a strengthened appreciation of my life and the people I love and fills me with the desire to live and be good. It´s as powerful as a movie can be.
