Need I once again talk of the happiness this film imparts all of those who watch it? I shall it’s the least this bundle of joy of a film deserves. My second time watching this film, oddly I watched it on this exact same date for the first time and found myself weeping and profoundly touched. This year was basically the same only instead of crying alone I cried with my boyfriend by me (who wasn’t crying but I can assure you he felt the emotions). I can’t help but feel I may be in a similar position next year once again watching It’s a Wonderful Life and being overwhelmed by the emotions it forces you to feel (to use the word force seems cruel but honestly how can you not feel some type of way when watching this?).
It’s a Wonderful Life is the story of a man’s life, George Bailey’s (JIMMY STEWART), like many other films are but this film seems to stand out as George Bailey’s life seems to represent everyone. Because despite doubt, despite difficultly, despite all the odds, kindness and the goodness of the human condition prevail and show us just how special and just how wonderful life is. No film will make you want to embrace being kind and genuine and good more so than this film, and it’s such a simple thing to take from a film but it’s still so important and if you’ve seen this film you will know exactly why. That’s why if you haven’t seen this I encourage you to do just that as soon as possible.
A success story, a family story, a love story, a Christmas story, a story of kindness, a story that highlights the value of life. This film seems to represent all that is good and for that I hold it so so closely.
