In Longlegs, the devil undoubtedly emerges as the victor, manipulating everyone from the Harker family to the serial killer Longlegs, treating them like chess pieces. The devil's influence is evident from the beginning when the killer surrenders to FBI Agent Lee Harker without resistance. This act is part of the devil's plan, pushing Lee onto the Longlegs case.
The devil's control extends even to Lee's mother, forcing her to witness the horrors while dressed as a nun. The murders to the families form a dark cyclical pattern. The cycle reaches its tragic conclusion with Carter's family—first, the husband murders his wife, then Lee kills the husband, and finally, she murders her mother. With Lee's final act, the circle seems complete, cementing the devil's victory.
