I’ll never pass up an opportunity to see this in a cinema. The screen swallows you up, and the incredible sound and score of this movie envelop you, it’s glorious.
I’m always incredibly impressed by the finale of this. There’s so many vehicles, and so many heroes we want to see survive, and villains that we want to die gruesomely, and it coordinates them all with masterful skill. Moving Max back and forth on the rig, tossing him from one vehicle to another, then yanking him up with a polecat at the perfect time for an enormous explosion to fill the screen, magic. Each stage of the final chase has such clear stakes as well—don’t let this car in front, break the harpoons, get these people off the tanker, it’s great.
Also, I noticed that the People Eater has little cufflinks that look like nipples. Guy decided what his fetish was and steered right into that skid.
