I love this movie, it’s my favorite of the last 20 years. I watched it 4 times in theaters and at least once a year since release and it continues to surprises me. My reaction is still befuddlement, how is it doing so many things at once and doing it so well? There are moments where I can only shake my head and laugh.

I upgraded to an OLED last Christmas and it took me 6 months to realize that 4k discs blows away 4k streaming. Better colors, better resolution, better audio, so I had to test it on the glorious Fury Road.

I introduced my brother-in-law to it during this latest spin, he’s one of those guys who is always on his phone, even if he’s watching something he likes. The movie starts and he’s dabbling a bit on his device, Pann gives him a bit of a death glare because by now I’ve also converted her to Mad Max supremacy, and all it took was for Imperator Furiosa to make that hard left on the War Rig for little bro to drop his phone and just be glued to the screen.

Who can blame him? That first chase is relentless and it concludes with that insane drive into the dust storm… the first set-piece ends with the light on the flare going out, we get our first break after 25 minutes of non-stop action, he’s on his device again, turns out he’s checking his Apple Watch: “That was intense… I’m just checking my heart rate.” Insert George Miller mic drop.
