The ultimate buddy road trip. I had watched this before but I guess I never logged it or written anything for it. In preparation for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, I’ll try my best here. Quick disclaimer that I never grew up with the Mad Max franchise or watched the other movies (that will change after watching this again), so the lore of this world is a little foggy to me. Regardless, I know a banger when I see one and this is a banger. Insane, psychedelic, and bizarre yet mesmerizing all the same time. Fury Road instantly throws you into the action, not even letting you get comfortable in your seat. It’s like that for around 90% of the runtime too. Pure high octane adrenaline pumping through every frame.

The set pieces and designs are fucking ridiculous. You truly believe this is a despondent, ruined Earth inhabited by things that resemble humanity, but are far from it. This shit was made for Dolby sound. Every crash, gunshot, and explosion shatters the bones and fucking rattles you. Hardy and Theron’s combined chemistry is wonderful. What seems like a very linear story becomes complex and complicated at every turn as we learn more about this oil-driven dystopia. I’ve also never seen a movie make me love water so much. Everything was an absolute adrenaline shot to the heart – there’s no time to stop and take a break. Even when they do, it’s done tastefully and does wonders to help us understand these characters and their motivations. George Miller is a mad scientist and this is his freakish experiment. WITNESS HIM!
