Roly Polys are a strong creature found throughout the upper yard. They can be a challenge to kill if fought unprepared. They have a weaker variant called the Sickly Roly Poly.
Behavior[]
The Roly Poly simply wanders around with no specific goal in mind. It does not attack other insects, but will defend itself when attacked. The Roly Poly has more health than a Ladybug, and possesses 4 attacking moves: a normal bite, a long side swipe, a bounce attack where it curls up and launches itself into the air, and a rolling charge. When the Roly Poly rolls, it will continue to roll until it either reaches its limit, or the target turns in a way in which the Roly Poly can't reach them. The Roly Poly can also heal itself. It rolls into a motionless ball, and proceeds to recover about a quarter of its health pool. This can be interrupted if the player manages to stagger them or land a critical hit.
Interaction With The Player[]
Roly Polys behave towards the player the same way they would to any other creature attacking them, chasing and attacking them via the same attacks.
Interactions With Other Creatures[]
Roly Polys don't have any specific interactions with any certain creatures and will become aggressive if attacked by any.
Advanced Loot Table[]
This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Roly Poly. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.
Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.
Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy[]
The Roly Poly is a very dangerous creature and it is recommended to be wearing a defensive armor like Ladybug Armor or Black Ant Armor. Tier 3 weapons also make the fight much easier, preferably a Mint Mace if possible. If the player does not have access to a tier 3 weapon, a upgraded Insect Hammer or a club are both great options. Its bite is easier to block, but its roll should be avoided, either by perfect blocking to stagger it at the start, or running out of the way. Interrupting its healing move by staggering should be a priority.
Trivia[]
- The Roly Poly is one of three creatures that have a stun animation with no dazed effects above their head.
- The other two are the Black Ox Beetle and Sickly Roly Poly.
- The Roly Poly seems to be based on the common pill-bug.
