Ladybird Larva are an aggressive creature found across the entire upper yard, but in mass in the BBQ Spill and their burrow. They are an extremely dangerous nuisance of the area and players should be cautious when exploring near them.
Behavior[]
Ladybird Larvae have two variants, normal and burrowing variants. The normal larvae act in a similar manner to their weaker counterparts, wandering the general area especially in their caves. The burrowing variant behave mildly differently to normal Larva, and actually behave more like Antlions. When approached from the front, they will burst from the ground and attack the player, not having to be disturbed to become aggressive. They have three moves, two shared with their weaker counterparts the Larva. The first is a combo bite and the second is a charge bite. Its unique attack is a dodging hop, in which they will take two large hops back from the player in an attempt to dodge their attacks.
There is an odd third variant of Ladybird Larvae found in the Ladybird Larvae Burrow. This variant is completely identical to the normal wandering variant, but has a 100% chance of dropping the Insulating Larva Spike. There is only one of this larvae in the entire cave and it never respawns after being killed.
Interaction With Player[]
Ladybird Larvae will only rise out of the ground to attack the player. When damaging the player, they will increase their sizzle meter, so it is best to be cautious with them. They are also highly resistant to spicy damage dealt by the player.
Interaction With Creatures[]
Ladybird Larvae will not interact with other creatures and simply stay underground unless the player approaches them or become aggressive on sight if they are the wandering variant.
Advanced Loot Table[]
This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Ladybird Larva. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.
One thing to note is that the Insulated Larva Spike is a guaranteed drop from a specific larva in the Ladybird Burrow, which is an effective way to get one.
Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.
Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy[]
Ladybird Larvae are deadly, especially in large numbers, and should be killed with tier 3 or 2 weapons regardless of the fact if they are grouped or alone. A Mint Mace can quickly make work of the larvae before they become a problem. A Mosquito Needle or Tiger Mosquito Rapier may also prove effective, as the lifesteal can prove helpful to keep your health up if you begin to burn from sizzling and Ladybird Larvae are weak to stabbing damage. The one-handed function of the weapons can also let you utilize a shield. The player should also have tier 3 or 2 armor and should NOT use a spicy weapon due to them being highly resistant compared to other resistants. Their normal attacks can be easily blocked like the Larva and the dodge does not directly attack the player. Ladybird Larvae inflict the "Sizzling" effect when hitting the player. Although it won't fill the bar with one bite, getting hit too much can cause you to burn.
Trivia[]
- Ladybird Larva have little resemblance to their real life counterparts, likely due to being a reskin of Larva. However it does have a slight resemblance Asian Lady Beetle larvae and other types of lady bug larvae. Mostly the orange and black coloration.
- Ladybird Larva were originally named "Ladybug Larva"
- This was likely changed to reflect the newer creature that also spawned in the same areas as the larva, the Ladybird
