The Black Ox Beetle is a powerful creature found throughout the upper yard. It's an extremely deadly creature and one of the strongest non-boss insects currently in the game.
Behavior[]
The Black Ox Beetle has no unique behavior and simply wanders around its spawn area. It has five attacks, a normal headbutt, an attack where it will throw a rock from the ground, an attack where it will rapidly charge at the player for a long time unless stopped, an attack where it will jump and turn around and then kick dust at you, and an attack where it will lunge forward shake its head twice and then vigorously shake its head doing tons of damage.
Interactions With Player[]
The Black Ox Beetle is aggressive to the player and will not turn away a chance to attack them on sight.
Interactions With Other Creatures[]
The Black Ox Beetle is neutral to all creatures normally, but will defend itself if something happens to attack it. The Black Ox Beetle also tends to anger Ladybird Larva by hitting them with rocks making them fight, usually ending up with the larva getting destroyed unless swarmed, in which case they can occasionally win.
Advanced Loot Table[]
This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Black Ox Beetle. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.
Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.
Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy[]
The Black Ox Beetle is a very hard creature to kill, and for that reason having highly upgraded tier 2 armor and a tier 3 weapon is recommended. The Salt Morning Star is a good weapon to use due to its Salty Damage and high stun. Its basic headbutt can be easily blocked, but its charge must be focused to make sure it is not able to get a hit in and continue to run. Its rock throw should not be blocked and instead easily dodged by walking to the side as it digs up its rock. However, a shield such as the Black Ant Shield is very useful for the creature for blocking the rocks and its other harder to block attacks such as its charge.
Trivia[]
- The Black Ox Beetle is one of the few creatures to use the ‘Stronger Than You Think We Are’ theme, previously being the only user of said theme.
- The Black Ox Beetle is one of three creatures that have a stun animation with no dazed effects above their head.
- The other two are the Roly Poly and Sickly Roly Poly.
- The Black Ox Beetle is based off the real life Ox Beetle. However, only major dominant males of this species have 3 horns like the ones in game.
