Various foods and liquids must be gathered by the player in order to survive. Most can both be scavenged from Creatures or the environment alike and some can even provide positive or negative effects when consumed. Thirst declines at a constant rate. Hunger declines based on the player's stamina usage. Food can be found just about anywhere, but others are more useful than others. The player can also wear specific Armors or use different Mutations that reduce the drain rates for the Thirst and Hunger gauges when used.

Food Types[]

There are three primary food types in the game, two of which primarily increase hunger and the other, water.

Snacks[]

Snacks are mostly seen as Resources that can easily be scavenged from the world of Grounded. They are easy to amass but fill less hunger than cooked meat or meals. Due to this, they are not recommended to be prioritized as a main food source and are better as a crafting item. Snacks will stack to 5 by default, but can be increased with Mega Milk Molar Upgrades.

Meals[]

Meals are much more powerful than snacks and are the primary food for players. Meals give much more food by default, and also give a buff that reduces or completely stops hunger drain. Meals made in a cookery also have the added bonus of giving a buff to increase their power in battle or other uses. Meals do not stack and cannot be increased in stack size.

Liquids[]

Liquids are the primary source of water in the game. Most liquids come in a "drop" form that takes the shape of a tiny drop of the liquid. The most plentiful is Dew Drops, which can be found under most Grass, but others can be found in abandoned drinks across the Backyard. All liquids can be stored in a Canteen.

Smoothies are not in the same category of these liquids and do not replenish hunger or water, and instead give positive effects.
