Pumpkin Bombs are the signature weapon of the Green Goblin. As their name indicates, they are explosives shaped like pumpkins. Different Pumpkin Bombs do different levels of damage.
The Pumpkin Bomb resembles a miniature Jack-o'-lantern. When thrown, it ignites almost soundlessly and produces enough heat to melt through a 3-inch (76 mm) thick sheet of steel. The Goblin stores these in his glider. Some of the Pumpkin Bombs can special bat-shaped shurikens, called Razor Bats, that sprouted rotating wing-shaped razor blades when thrown, and were capable of flight and homing in on a target.
Appearances[]
Spider-Man 3[]
Harry Osborn uses his father's Pumpkin Bombs when he becomes New Goblin during his fight with Peter and sends them both flying through the glass mirror into the Goblin's lair. After the Sky-Stick knocks him into a glass shelf containing pumpkin bombs, Harry throws one at Peter. However, he uses his webbing to deflect the attack and throws it right back at him while under the influence of the black suit.
The bomb explodes right next to Harry and scars the left side of his face. Later during the climax, Harry uses a pumpkin bomb on Sandman which explodes and causes him to collapse back into human form. Spider-Man later uses one of the Sky-Stick's pumpkin bombs to destroy the symbiote that possessed Eddie Brock. Eddie attempts to save the symbiote by rebonding with it but is killed in the explosion.
Full of vengeance, Peter Parker jams the bomb into the Goblin glider.
The bombs are reused by the Green Goblin when he arrives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a spell by Doctor Strange causes him and other characters to leave his own reality. While in Happy Hogan's building complex, the Goblin takes over Norman Osborn's mind and takes control. During the fight between the Goblin and Spider-Man, the antagonist makes the final blow outside and activates one of his bombs in hopes to kill the hero, which Peter tries to stop, but is unsuccessful and the bomb causes the building to explode, resulting in May Parker's death.
Days later, a rageful Peter vows to kill the Goblin for killing his aunt and believing his girlfriend might have met the same fate after the Statue of Liberty causes her to fall (until she is saved by The Amazing Spider-Man). Peter, filled with vengance and in a dark place, tries to destroy the Goblin's glider by jamming one of the bombs into the glider in hopes of killing the Goblin.
