"Aunt May’s Mess" is the first segment of the twenty-first episode of Spidey and his Amazing Friends. It premiered on March 25, 2022 alongside "Foam Sweet Foam".
Synopsis[]
When Aunt May unknowingly picks up Doc Ock's floating gizmo at the antique store, Spidey and the team must retrieve it before Doc Ock does.
Plot[]
Aunt May goes out to visit her favorite antique store, because they are having a sale. Aunt May loves collecting old-timey gadgets, and already has a few displayed on the bookcase: an old owl clock, a vintage toy robot, and a rotary dial telephone. Soon after she leaves, Peter, Gwen, and Miles receive a Spidey alert from WEB-STER: A strange disturbance has been reported downtown. So they suit up and swing into action.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Spiders notice something unusual is happening. Objects and people are floating in the air. This later turns out to be the work of Doc Ock, who has a new invention called the Octo-Floater, which allows her to make anything or anyone float. She plans to make everyone float, and unless they want to be brought back down they have to give into her demands by putting her in charge of the whole city. The Spiders try to take the Octo-Floater away from Doc Ock, but end up breaking off the antenna. Without the antenna, Doc Ock is unable to aim her Octo-Floater at what she wants to make float. Instead of making the Spiders float she ends up making a nearby car float. The Spiders get a hold of the antenna and again try to grab the Octo-Floater. In a tug of war between Doc Ock and Spin, the Octo-Floater slips out of their grasps and ends up in the back of a passing pickup truck. Doc Ock goes after the truck, and the Spiders follow, but not before bringing down some floating citizens and a squirrel.
The Octo-Floater ends up at the antique store, where Aunt May finds it. She thinks its an antique gadget and decides to buy it. On the way home, Aunt May is trying to figure what the device is. She also unknowingly causes things to float every time she presses the button. The Spiders notice the floating objects and use their webs to bring them down. At first they think Doc Ock got her Octo-Floater back. So, they follow the trail of floating objects, unaware that Doc Ock is following them.
The trail of floating objects eventually leads the Spiders to Spidey's neighborhood. There they see Aunt May returning home with the Octo-Floater. Doc Ock hurries over to grab her invention, only to be stopped by the Spiders. As they battle outside Spidey's house, Aunt May is still trying to figure out what the Octo-Floater is, and continues to unknowingly cause things to float, including the Spiders and Doc Ock. They are eventually brought down when Aunt May unknowingly finds the reverse switch. After being unable to figure out the Octo-Floater is or what it does, she puts it aside and turns on the TV for her wibble-wobble-cize workout.
Bootsie knocks the Octo-Floater out the window, which ends up causing the house to float. Spin and Ghost-Spider hold the house down while Spidey grabs the Octo-Floater from Doc Ock. He manages to fix the antenna, and then use it to make Doc Ock float before bringing his house gently down.
After wrapping up a floating Doc Ock, the Spiders head back inside and change out of their superhero attires. They find Aunt May downstairs, who is looking for the Octo-Floater which is no longer where she left it. She has no idea how it could have vanished. To make up for the lost "gadget", Peter, Miles, and Gwen give her a clockwork mouse they got from the antique store. Aunt May loves it and so does Bootsie. As soon as she winds it up, Bootsie starts to chase it around the living room.
