Starting from scratch ..

The harsh winter killed off my herbs; lavender, thyme and mint. I'll have to start from scratch again. I love using mint in my cooking - reminds me of dinner at gran's. And my lavender bushes have helped keep gnats away from the terrace. It is getting warm enough now to get replacements, I think we are safe from more snow now.

But what do I see? And smell? Yes, this is definitely mint - we have a survivor! I'm glad I waited before throwing the plants away. Now I'll tidy away the dry stalks and make room for the new plant.

I have finished the 3rd Cat bom, this one is personalized (by the colouring) - the sisters being my sister and me. Not that she can sit long with Brutus on her lap - she will start sneezing soon :)
So now I must prep no 4. I love stitching in the evenings in front of the telly.

This was also meant to be TV work - the dress I started crocheting for my granddaughter. But I give up - the pattern is missing quite a bit and although I can work that out, it is going to be miles too big for her.
So I have started on a different dress, knitted this time and I am unravelling as I go. Maybe I'll save the lacy pattern bit and make a crocheted skirt out of it later - then I can put a ribbon in the waist and gather it in to fit "Skinny Lizzy".

Have a nice weekend.!

  1. Your spring is coming when mint is starting a new shoot. I don't think you can kill mint. Love your stitchery project. I always sew in front of tv. I can't do one thing without the other! Enjoy your weekend. It's Mother's Day weekend here in Australia and North America. When is it your Mother's Day? Hugs Nat

  2. I used to have several different flavors of mint in a garden at one of the places I lived--miss it--maybe I will try growing some inside!!! It is amazing some times how long it takes for the new years green growth to appear--so it is good you waited!!
Love the 'cat" block--I did get #4 traced today--but have no idea when I will start it????
