Yura Katayose (かた) (よせ) ゆら, Katayose Yura?」 was a minor yet pivotal character in Oshi no Ko. She was a popular actress, noted to be the best in Japan.

She was the most recent victim of Hikaru Kamiki, Aqua and Ruby Hoshino's father, having been pushed off a mountain by one of his accomplices while on a hiking trip, making her death look like an accident.

Appearance[]

Yura was a beautiful young woman with shoulder length light blue hair that has bangs hanging on the left side. She had cyan-colored eyes, which, similar to Ai Hoshino, had a bright, six-pointed star in each one.[3] Yura also wore glasses, but did not wear them when she went out mountain climbing.

Personality[]

In contrast to her cheerful public image, Yura was prone to cursing in private to vent stress from her job, something Hikaru Kamiki called her out on. To better process her occupational stress, she developed a habit of taking time off from her work to go mountain hiking in the countryside, claiming that she had gotten addicted to it.

Yura also took great pride in her acting skills, constantly looking to improve herself whilst disliking being hired solely for her popularity. She stated that her greatest dream was to star in a generation-defining "masterpiece" that will be remembered even a century after it is released. However, she does draw a line with certain roles, being unwilling to play high school student due to believing herself to be too old.

Background[]

Yura was a famous actress who made a name for herself in the industry, with many seeking to recruit her for their projects. At some point, she met Hikaru Kamiki, and, fooled by his dependable public persona, they became drinking buddies, unaware that he was a sadistic murderer plotting to kill her at the first chance he got.

Etymology[]

  • The name Yura is written in hiragana (ゆら), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (悠良, 夢羅 or 結羅), it could mean:
    • 悠良 - "permanence" (悠) (yu) and "good, virtuous, respectable" (良) (ra).
    • 夢羅 - "dream, vision" (夢) (yu) and "lightweight fabric, gauze, thin silk, Rome" (羅) (ra).
    • 結羅 - "tie, bind" (結) (yu) and "lightweight fabric, gauze, thin silk, Rome" (羅) (ra).
  • Yura's surname Katayose means "single, piece" (片) (kata) and "close, draw near, stop in, bring near, gather, collect, send, forward" (寄) (yose).

Trivia[]

  • Yura's blood Type is B.[2]
  • Yura is considered by Hikaru Kamiki himself to be the most talented and famous actress in Japan.
  • Yura likes mountain climbing, a hobby that allowed her killer to pass off her murder as an accident in the mountains.
  • According to Yura herself, she was to receive an offer for an important film. It was later revealed that this film was The 15 Year Lie, with Yura being chosen as its top candidate on a list of possible actresses to represent the life of Ai Hoshino.
  • In the manga, Yura is shown with one star eye, and only in a single panel of chapter 109 (in a scene not depicted in the anime). In the anime, she is shown with two.
