- "Talos was weak. And we wandered in the shadows for years because he was weak. He turned a war people into a band of beggars and what, I'm supposed to emulate that? I'm supposed to be like Talos and put my trust in you? You pimped us, Fury. You put us out to work for you and when you were done with us, you threw us away. So, first, I'm gonna kill you. And then I'm gonna take a flamethrower to humanity."
- ―Gravik to "Nick Fury"[src]
Gravik was the leader of the radical Skrull Resistance and Skrull General in the Skrull Council, who grew disillusioned and spiteful of Nick Fury for abandoning him after Fury went into exile. Replacing Talos as the newly appointed Skrull General, Gravik initiated the Secret Invasion, launching covert terrorist attacks and attempting to manipulate humanity to engage in self-destructive nuclear war. By selling his movement as a way to allow the Skrulls to inhabit Earth as their new home planet, he began a war with the ultimate goal of getting revenge on Nick Fury for hurting him as a boy. Intending to raise an army of Super-Skrulls, he sought the Harvest containing combatants' DNA from the Battle of Earth, although Gravik was killed by G'iah before he could fulfill his war.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Escaping the Kree[]
When he was young, Gravik's parents were killed during the Kree-Skrull War, but managed to escape behind enemy lines and piloted a ship on his own, which he used to go to Earth. Once arriving on Earth, Gravik was found and aided by Varra, who brought him to Talos' sanctuary of the surviving Skrulls, who had been able to escape the Kree. Despite his grief, Gravik took comfort in believing that his parents had died well during the war.[4]
Nick Fury's Promise[]
Seeking to find him a new purpose in the wake of his parent's deaths, Varra had brought Gravik to a meeting organized by Nick Fury and Talos. Varra introduced Gravik to Fury, who attempted to greet Gravik. However, the young boy stepped back, prompting Varra to pull Fury aside and tell him about his parents. Fury returned and offered his condolences about Gravik's parents, so Gravik commented that they died a good death.
Fury warned Gravik that their work was dangerous, but Gravik said that he was not afraid. Fury said that he could see that, as they exchanged a touching of foreheads, as a sign of respect within the Skrulls, and Gravik joined the crowd of Skrulls. Gravik stood by Varra and watched as Talos discussed their losses since losing Skrullos and Fury promised to find the Skrulls a new home in exchange for them acting as his spy network.
As Fury asked the Skrulls to live as Humans while he and Carol Danvers searched for their new home, Gravik had then watched Soren be the first Skrull to agree to Fury's request, but looked away as Soren's daughter, G'iah, turned to face him. The rest of the Skrulls agreed to Fury and Talos' request, and Fury assured them that he would keep his word, turning to Gravik as he did so, who took Fury's promise to them all seriously.[4]
Nick Fury's Hitman[]
- "The first mission you sent me on. You know, I was young. I tried my best. I wanted to give everything to impress my hero. You know, the one who promised us a home. But this man... This man, Fury, he had a wife. And he had children. Yeah, all right, maybe he was a bit misguided. But I killed him because of you. I killed him and I killed so many more. And everyone I killed took a little piece out of my heart."
- ―Gravik to "Nick Fury"[src]
Gravik was assigned to kill a man who had a wife and kids as his first mission for Nick Fury when he was still young. Wanting to impress Fury, who he considered a hero, Gravik finished the mission. Having killed a man with a family, Gravik became more ruthless, and continued to become colder as Fury ordered him to kill more people.[3]
Collecting Avengers DNA[]
- "Nearly every Avenger spilled blood in the Battle of Earth. Even Carol Danvers. In the aftermath, some were sent in to collect that DNA. Some with the ability to blend in. Nobody knew about them but me and the collectors, led by..."
"Gravik." - ―Nick Fury and Sonya Falsworth[src]
Nick Fury discovered that most Avengers, including Carol Danvers, had spilled their blood during the Battle of Earth. Knowing that all of the superhuman DNA would be dangerous if acquired by other parties, Fury sent in a team of Skrulls led by Gravik to collect the DNA for him, which was then consolidated into a single vial known as the Harvest and hidden in an undisclosed location.[5]
Rising Tensions[]
Joining the Skrull Council[]
- "Gravik is now the newest member of the Skrull Council. He preys on the collective rage of young, displaced Skrulls."
- ―Maria Hill to Nick Fury[src]
Shortly after the Blip, Fury could not bring himself to address any of the Skrulls' concerns and instead chose to leave Earth and relocate to outer space, having taken a job from S.A.B.E.R. to build up their space station. Angered at Fury's abandonment, Gravik took over an abandoned nuclear facility in Russia and renamed it as New Skrullos, which he presented to the Skrulls as a safe haven.[1]
In order to get revenge on Nick Fury for leaving him,[6] Gravik convinced the Skrulls to forcibly seize Earth for themselves as their new home planet by eradicating humanity, Gravik initiated the Secret Invasion, where Skrulls would kidnap humans of high rank or importance and then impersonate them. Additionally, Gravik took advantage of the rage and anger possessed by displaced Skrulls to form the Skrull Resistance, who were willing to serve as killers and field operators. With this newfound stature as a leader, Gravik was elected to the Skrull Council, who chose to participate in the Secret Invasion and stripped Talos of his rank as General for failing to secure them a home.[1]
Plans for War[]
- "Well, what else do we know about his plans?"
"Well, he's already made them. This is what Agent Ross' imposter was trying to cover up. Schematics for a dirty bomb intercepted by Donald Prescod. Donald Prescod had been monitoring a new radical group called the AAR, Americans Against Russia, which he believed to be the next Skrull front for a terrorist attack."
"Gravik's trying to start a war between Russia and the United States?" - ―Nick Fury and Maria Hill[src]
Wanting humanity to be eliminated, Gravik decided that World War III was the solution, and planned to spark a nuclear conflict between Russia and the United States of America using false flag attacks. To this extent, Gravik arranged for Americans Against Russia to be formed, with memberships comprised of American humans who could be kidnapped and impersonated so that the Skrull Resistance could attack Russia and have their terrorism publicly seen as the actions of Americans. In order to acquire a dirty bomb, Gravik led a raid on a weapons cache in Kazakhstan and later that day learned that a CIA agent named Donald Prescod had discovered the plans. He then sent a Skrull to retrieve the plans and kill Donald Prescod, though the Skrull he sent was intercepted and killed by Talos and Maria Hill.[1]
Secret Invasion[]
Nick Fury's Return[]
Gravik oversaw Brogan's impersonation of Martin Wallace. Later that day, Pagon approached Gravik and told him that Nick Fury had returned to Earth, but that their spy told him he was too out of shape to be a threat. Pagon commented that they were keeping the information private, and Gravik challenged whether Pagon saw it as protecting Gravik as the cause. He explained that the cause was home, which Pagon agreed to. He resolved to leave the next day and not stop until they had Earth.[1]
Unity Day Bombing[]
- "You murdered over two thousand innocent humans. Children. And yet, you don't seem remotely remorseful."
- ―Shirley Sagar Skrull to Gravik[src]
Gravik went to Vossoyedineniye Square the next day and confronted Nick Fury, leading him through the crowd using all the forms his spies had taken since his return to Earth, which Fury recognized from seeing them. Gravik then showed the form Fury recognized as he activated the bombs, causing panic at the festival. Gravik took advantage of the panic and impersonated Fury, shooting Maria Hill in the chest. As Hill fell, Gravik aimed his gun at Hill, then at Fury. Another bomb exploded, so Gravik changed his form back and left, smiling at Fury.[1] He was joined by G'iah, and the two calmly left the square together.[4]
Meeting with the Council[]
- "Long before we arrived on this planet, they were destined to consume themselves. So, for anyone flinching at the thought of innocent deaths, let me assure you, we're only hastening the inevitable."
"And what happens if the Avengers return?"
"You don't think I thought about that? Put your faith in me. And I promise, your loyalty will be repaid." - ―Gravik and Sergio Caspani Skrull[src]
G'iah drove Gravik toward their meeting with the Skrull Council, but Gravik explained that it was more hope, wanting to see what was left of Fury. He claimed that Fury was simply old, and that he could have killed him but did not want to give Fury what he wanted. He told G'iah to get him to the Council meeting as he wanted to see their reactions in the immediate aftermath of the attack. Gravik entered the meeting and saw that G'iah was denied entry. Gravik gave G'iah his gun and told G'iah to kill the guard if he did not return to her within an hour.
Gravik entered the meeting, where he greeted the Council. The Skrull impersonating Sergio Caspani commented on Gravik's attire, but Gravik countered by pointing out that he was not invited to the meeting before personally greeting the Skrulls impersonating Pamela Lawton and Shirley Sagar. "Sagar" greeted Gravik, telling him to sit. Gravik sat and commented on the Skrulls acting humans, saying that he preferred dogs due to their loyalty and lack of harmful actions toward each and their habitat. "Caspani" said that his reading of human history was naïve, but Gravik said that it was the only correct reading.
"Sagar" started talking about the purpose of the meeting, saying that they needed to determine how to punish Gravik for the bombing and endangering Skrulls. Gravik reminded the Council of Fury breaking his promise to find them a new home, promising to take Earth and make it their home. Gravik insisted that they were at war with humans, refusing to lose it. He said that humans were destined to destroy themselves, assuring the Council that they were hastening what he deemed inevitable. "Caspani" asked what would happen if the Avengers were to return, but Gravik said he had a contingency plan for that. He turned to "Lawton," who nominated Gravik to be the new Skrull general. The Council all agreed except "Sagar," who scolded the rest of siding with Gravik, reminding them that the whole reason they had lost their planet and became homeless was because the Skrulls had been too willing to wage a war. Gravik complimented "Sagar" on staying unwavering in her beliefs and allowed her to leave peacefully. Gravik left the meeting and G'iah returned his gun as he exited the building.[4]
Returning Victorious[]
Back at New Skrullos, the Skrull crowd applauded Gravik for his efforts as he made his way through the compound. Kreega thanked Gravik and shook his hand, so Gravik said that it would not be possible without her. Gravik then told Pagon to continue their research involving the Harvest and walked away. Gravik then learned[4] from the Skrull impersonating Derrik Weatherby[5] that Brogan was being held at an FSB site disguised as a butcher shop.
Gravik found G'iah studying something on a computer, so he asked what she was doing. G'iah claimed to be checking Beto's progress, commenting on his loyalty. Gravik told G'iah that he initially thought she had been sent to him by Talos to kill him before realizing Talos would not have done so. Gravik told G'iah that Brogan had been found and told her to join him in rescuing Brogan.[4]
Rescue of Brogan[]
Gravik went to the FSB black site where Brogan was held along with Pagon, G'iah, and Beto. Gravik and Pagon armed themselves, and Gravik told G'iah and Beto to wait in the car while he and Pagon rescued Brogan. The pair discretely entered the butcher shop before throwing flash bombs at the Russian authorities. They entered the kitchen area and started shooting, killing the guards. Once all the guards were killed, Pagon retrieved Brogan. Gravik stopped them before they could and asked what Brogan revealed, but Brogan insisted that he did not reveal anything. Gravik then found the open escape hatch in the room where Pagon was being held.
As G'iah drove the group toward their safe house, they found it surrounded by the authorities, so they were forced to keep driving. Gravik suspected Brogan of having revealed the location, so G'iah drove the car into the woods. Gravik handed Pagon a gun, which he used to bring Brogan into the woods and kill him. Pagon then returned the gun to Gravik, who looked to G'iah as they drove away.[4]
Council Invitation[]
- "The only way we can counter that and claim this planet as our home is to become super ourselves. Now, we no longer just change faces. We change powers. We're gonna be uniquely programmed weapons of mass destruction. All of us. Super Skrulls."
- ―Gravik to Skrull Council[src]
Gravik returned to New Skrullos and invited the Skrull Council to brief them on his plan for domination. He sent Pagon, Beto, and Zirksu to infiltrate the Royal Navy with the mission of destroying a United Nations plane in order plunge the world into war. He went to the Super-Skrull Machine and examined the progress being made before the Council walked in. Gravik explained the plan regarding the United Nations' plane to the Council, revealing that he had created a way to give superpowers to Skrulls, calling them "Super Skrulls." He said that once the humans weakened each other, the Skrulls would attack, inviting the Council to the extinction of humanity. Gravik was turned into a Super Skrull, giving him powers beyond those of an average Skrull.[7]
Suspecting G'iah[]
Gravik began to suspect that G'iah was a mole, so he approached her and asked how Brogan could have revealed the location of the Skrulls' safe house without knowing it. G'iah said that Brogan likely guessed due to the torture he endured, saying that Brogan was weaker than Gravik believed. Gravik then told G'iah that they would be leaving together early in the morning.
G'iah and Gravik then flew to England together, where G'iah drove Gravik to a meeting which had been set up between Gravik and Talos. Gravik told G'iah that they were going to talk about her and took a call, saying the details of their planned attack on a United Nations plane. G'iah then parked the car, and Gravik entered the National Portrait Gallery.[7]
Meeting with Talos[]
Gravik was joined by Talos, to whom he talked about the painting Statesmen of World War I highlighting that while statesmen posed for pictures, soldiers fought and died, claiming to prefer to have his story written blood rather than ink. Talos sarcastically called him brave, and the two sat down to meet. Talos asked Gravik to stop killing humans, and Gravik commented that he would be doing them both a favor by killing Talos. Talos suggested they duel, but Gravik said that it would not be right due to the power imbalance created by Gravik's position as General. Gravik mentioned G'iah being with him and teased him about her presence in New Skrullos, causing Talos to attack him. The rest of the Skrulls in the room revealed themselves, forcing Talos to stand down.
Talos threatened to reveal the existence of Skrulls to the public, which Gravik claimed would spell the extinction of the Skrulls. Gravik made another comment about G'iah, prompting Talos to stab his knife into Gravik's hand before walking away. Gravik pull his hand out from under the knife, and the Extremis powers given to him by the Super-Skrull Machine allowed the wound to heal. Gravik left the museum and joined G'iah in the car.[7]
Confronting G'iah[]
As Gravik's plan to attack a United Nations plane was stopped, Gravik received word that G'iah had been the one to stop the attack. As G'iah attempted to flee, Gravik cut her off in his car. Gravik asked where G'iah was headed, so G'iah claimed to be retrieving their soldiers after what she referred to as a failed strike. However, Gravik explained that he did not fail, since although the plane was not attacked, he discovered that G'iah was the mole in the Skrull Resistance. He told G'iah to turn around while pointing a gun at her, but G'iah refused, wanting Gravik to look at her while he killed her. Gravik then shot her and drove away, leaving G'iah for dead.[7]
As Gravik prepared his next attack, Pagon confronted Gravik about G'iah's absence, prompting Gravik to reveal that he had learned she was a mole and killed her. Gravik returned to preparing for the attack, telling the Skrulls to remember that their goal was for people to believe Russia was responsible for the attack.[2]
Ambush on President Ritson[]
Gravik watched from a helicopter as United States President James Ritson was driven through England. Gravik ordered for a missile to be launched at the motorcade, and it was. The Skrulls then descended from the helicopter to engage in a firefight with the United States Secret Service. As the Skrulls started to dominate the battle, Nick Fury and Talos arrived, crashing the Skrulls' helicopter. Pagon told Gravik that Fury had arrived, causing Gravik to pause. He went into the fight and used his Flora colossi abilities granted to him when he became a Super Skrull to take out one of the Secret Service agents.
Gravik saw that Talos was attempting to get to Ritson, so Gravik ordered Pagon to take care of him. Pagon shot Talos while Gravik took cover. He saw Talos successfully break through the reinforced glass guarding Ritson and started going to where the President was. Gravik disguised himself as a Secret Service agent and told Fury to put Ritson in his car, but Fury refused, saying that he had his own ride. Gravik then went to Talos and pretended to be helping him get to Fury's car, but stopped in the middle of the fight when Fury saw them. Fury demanded Gravik release Talos, but Gravik instead revealed himself and killed Talos. Fury shot Gravik's face, but Gravik's Extremis abilities allowed him to heal. Pagon then arrived with a motorcycle and took Gravik away from the fight as reinforcements arrived.[2]
Setting a Trap[]
- "Pagon thought he had a voice, but none of you do. You're faceless and you're nameless. And the only reason Fury was on that motorway was because his traitor wife defied my direct order. Do you understand? Well, then you send some of our people to Varra's house and kill her."
- ―Gravik to Skrull Resistance[src]
Pagon, Gravik, Beto, and Kreega returned to New Skrullos from the attack and exited the car together, returning to the facility. As they entered, Gravik ordered Kreega and another Skrull to assemble their operatives. At the meeting, Gravik expressed frustration that President Ritson was still alive, saying that their war would have been able to start had Pagon successfully stolen the Harvest. Pagon accused Gravik of wanting Nick Fury alive, so Gravik said that Fury had what they needed. Pagon demanded an explanation, saying that the Harvest not being in any of the locations indicated that Fury never trusted Gravik. Pagon suggested that the Skrulls should not trust Gravik, but Gravik interrupted Pagon by killing him. Gravik announced to the Skrulls that they were faceless and nameless soldiers and ordered the Skrulls to kill Varra, declaring her to be a traitor.
Gravik then called Raava, who said that she was going to the hospital to ensure their outcome was favorable. However, Gravik told Raava to keep Ritson alive and tell him that Russia and Skrulls were responsible for the attack and that the Skrulls needed to be killed. Gravik explained that the attack would provide leverage, since Fury did not want to see World War III or for innocent Skrulls to die. Raava asked what would happen if it did not go well, but Gravik simply stated that they would sacrifice themselves for their cause.[5]
Attacked by the Skrulls[]
Beto approached Gravik and asked about Pagon, saying that he was confused since Pagon was loyal to their cause. Gravik claimed that Pagon had failed them and received a call from Raava, confirming that James Ritson was out of surgery and promising to send confirmation of the strike once Ritson launched it. Gravik threatened Raava and the two hung up when the Skrulls in New Skrullos ambushed Gravik. Beto held a plastic bag over Gravik's face, attempting to suffocate him. Gravik fought free of the Skrulls, who continued trying to hold him down. Several Skrulls held Gravik on a table and beat him while Beto held the plastic over his face, but Gravik channeled Cull Obsidian's strength to overpower them and kill several Skrulls.
Zirksu attempted to stab Gravik, but Gravik grabbed his arm and stabbed Zirksu in the neck, killing him. Gravik maanged to right himself and punched Beto down, screaming. Gravik defeated another Skrull before approaching Beto and throwing him out of the door, frightening the other Skrulls outside the room. Gravik joined the Skrulls and boasted loudly before grabbing Beto by his jacket. Beto called Gravik a monster, so Gravik slit Beto's throat and looked to his people.[5]
Obtaining the Harvest[]
Gravik called Nick Fury and offered him to call his attack off if Fury delivered the Harvest. Fury asked what attack he was referring to, so Gravik explained his plan to have U.S. President James Ritson bomb New Skrullos. He told Fury to bring iodide pills to combat the radiation before hanging up.[5]
Fury approached Gravik and asked where the rest of the Skrulls were, so Gravik said they were hiding. Fury struggled to take iodide pills and dropped them into a grate, so Gravik stomped them down and mocked him, giving him a drink and toasting to his last stand. Gravik mocked Fury about his radiation poisoning killing him, asking if he had the Avengers ready as a backup plan. Fury simply commented that Gravik was busy using human skin as a costume, but Gravik reminded Fury that he was disguised as the first human Fury ordered him to kill. Gravik scolded Fury for having him kill people, claiming that he became colder with each kill. He insisted that Talos was weak, blaming him for the Skrulls' thirty years of exile.
Gravik became angry, saying that he would kill Fury, followed by the rest of humanity, blaming Fury for his actions. He told Fury that he should have kept his promise, and Fury agreed, confessing that he gave up searching for a home for the Skrulls after a few years and that he hoped to build them a home on Earth. Gravik asked why he did not do that, so Fury explained that it was easier to save lives than to change their minds. Fury said that the last thing he felt before dying in the Snap was relief that he no longer had to fight, agreeing that he was not brave. Fury said that he returned to Earth because he felt responsible for not teaching Gravik well enough. Fury said that since he failed the Skrulls, he wanted to give Gravik what he wanted, offering to hand over the Harvest in exchange for him invading a different planet.
Gravik took the Harvest and checking it while Fury had a coughing fit. Satisfied that the Harvest was pure, Gravik commented on Fury's desire to die. Gravik then activated the Super-Skrull Machine with himself and Fury inside, granting him abilities from every individual who bled in the Battle of Earth. Gravik admired his new strength as Fury righted himself and punched Fury to the ground. Gravik went to punch Fury, who caught the punch and used strength gained from the Harvest to punch Gravik out of the building. Fury followed Gravik and revealed himself to have been G'iah the entire conversation.[3]
Duel at New Skrullos[]
G'iah called Gravik weak and charged at him, so Gravik threw a car at G'iah. G'iah avoided the car, so Gravik used his enhanced strength to attack G'iah, who countered with an ice blade she had summoned. G'iah stabbed Gravik into a dumpster, so Gravik used Ebony Maw's abilities to attack her with a large slab of concrete, hitting her into the ground and a crane and kicking her through a wall.
The pair summoned Captain Marvel's abilities and flew into the air, struggling against each other as they flew toward the ground. Gravik started choking G'iah, but she used Mantis' abilities to make Gravik fall asleep and crash onto the ground. Gravik recovered and fired several blasts at G'iah, who dodged them and landed on the ground. G'iah punched Gravik several times and started choking him, and Gravik taunted G'iah by comparing her to Talos and humans. However, G'iah blasted a hole in Gravik's chest, killing him as he fell to the ground.[3]
Legacy[]
Anti-Skrull Sentiments[]
Gravik's failed plan resulted in U.S. President James Ritson declaring all species not born on Earth to be enemy combatants, causing raised stakes as humans started attacking Skrulls and people they suspected of being Skrulls.[3]
Personality[]
- "All the bombs and the blackouts and the massacres and the wildfires and the imminent removal of humans from their habitat, that is all you! The species you spent your entire adult life defending, they were condemned to die the day I realized you weren't a man of your word. You know, Fury, you really should've kept your promise."
- ―Gravik to "Nick Fury"[src]
Gravik was a sociopathic[6] and determined leader of the Skrull Resistance who sought to get revenge on his father figure, Nick Fury, for abandoning him. Since when he was small, he was already soldier-like and exhibited a strong willingness to survive, as shown when he piloted a ship on his own to escape the Kree after his parents were killed. Gravik's desire to hurt Fury was his ultimate motivation; driven by a deep sense of betrayal, the desire to find a home for his own people is a thought that never truly occurred to him. Instead, he used it as a sellable label to his fellow Skrulls to build his army and accomplish his goal. Although Gravik was initially kind to his fellow Resistance members and allowed other Skrulls refugees to join his cause and let them live in New Skrullos, he was also a ruthless commander who killed any humans who stood in his path, or even his own comrades if they betrayed him. Gravik killed Brogan when the latter exposed the Skrulls’ plans to Sonya Falsworth and attempted to kill G'iah when she betrayed the resistance. Gravik saw the loyalty of his subordinates as extremely important, as shown when he deliberately told G'iah his plans to attack UN-1 just to expose her as a traitor, even when risked the success of his own mission. Gravik was also a sociopath who had no regard for the lives of his fellow Skrulls. Whenever Gravik was questioned for prioritizing hurting Fury instead of furthering the resistance's plans, he murdered his most trusted confidant Pagon in cold blood when the latter questioned his leadership.
Gravik was a steadfast advocate of militarism, preferring to strike pre-emptively rather than to be controlled by humans passively. As shown from his parley with Talos, Gravik firmly believed in writing history in his and his race’s blood rather than telling the story in oil and paint, even if this may bring their race to grave dangers, seeing himself as a soldier. This reflects that he despised the statesmen that only sit and advocate for peace, and respected the soldiers who does all the actual killing and sacrifices for the greater good. His glorification of the military and the army led Gravik to form the Skrull Resistance and bring their species to an all-out war with humanity. Gravik also believes that the Skrulls are a war people and should not live like beggars seeking for humans’ mercy on Earth. Due to this fact, Gravik saw his former leader Talos as similar to the statesmen of World War I, and despised him because he saw Talos as weak and compromising, unable to make the right decision to abandon humanity, but instead clinging on to the hopeless vision of coexisting with humans and turning the race of war people into refugees. Hence, Gravik mocked Talos and angered his former general during their negotiation and later killed him during his rescue of Ritson.
Gravik despised the human race and saw humans inferior to dogs, as dogs do not lie while humans will. He believed that humans are doomed to their own extinction, and therefore had no qualms with mercilessly killing humans, as shown when he was not remorseful even when he killed more than 2,000 people including Maria Hill in the bombing of the Vossoyedineniye Square. This is because Gravik thought what he was doing was just speeding up the destruction of humanity and that humanity was doomed to consume themselves long before the Skrulls’ arrival on Earth, echoing Nick Fury's claims that humans can’t even coexist with each other and are constantly at war with one another. Gravik also mocked the members of the Skrull Council wearing human clothes and looking too human, feeling that these other members have strayed away from the "cause" by adapting to human cultures too comfortably. Due to his hatred towards humanity, Gravik was shown to refuse to follow any human traditions or customs, such as when he preferred a bit of espresso in his sugar, while the human tradition was the other way round, this reflected his extreme unwillingness to submit to any human cultures and extremist attitudes towards the human race in general.
Gravik's decision to get revenge on Fury was driven by the fact that he was betrayed by a man he saw as his father figure after Fury went into exile and abandoned him. After losing his parents and escaping the Kree, Gravik arrived on Earth and initially trusted Fury, seeing him as a mentor and father figure who guided him after the deaths of his parents. Gravik and the Skrull network on Earth followed Fury's orders and helped him evade many crises throughout these years. Gravik idolized Fury in his youth, to the extent that he would even kill someone else under Fury's orders as he saw Fury as his hero, and still carried out the missions even though he did not feel good about killing other people. However, after the Blip, Fury disappeared, abandoning the Skrulls and Gravik, who felt a deep sense of betrayal. Driven by a desire for revenge, Gravik formed the Skrull Rebellion and planned a clandestine invasion on humanity in order to hurt Fury as much as possible. Gravik accomplished this by killing Fury's most trusted confidant, Maria Hill in cold blood, openly mocking Fury as becoming old and unable to protect his world, and later killing Fury's best friend Talos. Gravik's spite towards Fury also clouded his judgement, as he was too hell-bent on mocking Fury's failures and unable to realize that the "Fury" that he was talking to during their final encounter was actually G'iah in disguise.
Although Gravik was appointed as General and leader of the Skrull Resistance, he never actually had a desire to find a home for his people. He merely saw his subordinates and followers as pawns to achieve what he really wants. This was exemplified when Gravik mercilessly killed Pagon without hesitation when the latter raised his doubts and questioned Gravik's plans, and then claimed that his subordinates are faceless, nameless and hence do not have the right to voice out their opinions. He later also executed Beto in front of his followers when Beto and other members planned a mutiny, reflecting that Gravik's followers had gradually lost faith in his leadership. Furthermore, Gravik saw all the refugees living in New Skrullos as pawns as well, as Gravik told Raava to expose the location of New Skrullos to Ritson in an attempt to force the US to bomb the refuge in order to start a new world war and force Nick Fury to hand him the Harvest. All these actions showed that Gravik actually only cared about hurting Fury and puts his own interests over the preservation of his race, as he was willing to sacrifice even his allies.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
This section requires expansion |
This section needs a rewrite |
- Skrull Physiology: As a Skrull, Gravik possesses innate superhuman powers.
- Superhuman Strength: Being a Skrull, Gravik innately possesses considerable superhuman strength.
- Longevity: Gravik has the extended lifespan of a Skrull compared to that of a human. As noted by Varra, although he appeared to be an adolescent in 1997, it was only by human standards and was in fact much older.
- Shapeshifting: Like the rest of his race, Gravik is capable of shapeshifting. Before his bombing in Russia, Gravik took on several appearances. He also took the appearance of Nick Fury to kill Maria Hill. Gravik's most prominent appearance is that of the first person that he killed, on Fury’s orders.
- Vocal Replication: Gravik is able to accurately replicate the voice of whoever he shapeshifts into.
- Memory Replication: Gravik is able to access the memories of whoever he shapeshifts into.
- Radiation Immunity: As noted by Maria Hill, Skrulls are immune to harmful effects of radiation, thus, Gravik and members of the Skrull Resistance can set up their base in an abandoned nuclear facility and live there unharmed.
- Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Using the Super-Skrull Machine, Gravik enhanced himself with additional superhuman powers obtained from a few scattered DNA samples to aid him in combat, also becoming a member of a Skrull subspecies, Super-Skrulls. Later, Gravik gained even more powers derived from the DNA of the Avengers and other combatants of the Battle of Earth that were combined in the Harvest, wich he used it on himself and, unknowingly, on G'iah disguised as Nick Fury.
- Transformation: To be added
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Using his Extremis enhancement, Gravik was able to instantly heal from a wound on the hand inflicted on him by Talos with a kitchen knife, even when his hand was torn apart when he pulled his hand out directly from the knife impaled on his hand. Gravik was also able to heal within seconds when an enraged Nick Fury shot him in the face after Gravik killed Talos during the ambush on President Ritson. This regenerative healing factor has its limitations though, as Gravik cannot heal from a large hole in his stomach due to G'iah’s energy blasts which vaporized vital gastrointestinal organs, and eventually succumbed to this killing blow.
- Limb Extension: Much like Groot, Gravik can extend his limbs at will. During the Skrull Resistance's ambush on President Ritson, Gravik extended his limbs to grab an American soldier from meters in front of him and killed him. Gravik also used this ability to punch a hole in Pagon's chest after the latter started to lose trust.
- Physical Augmentation: Gravik's strength was greatly amplified from a DNA sample of Cull Obsidian, overpowering several Skrulls who turned against him. Later, he gained the DNA of Abomination, Drax the Destroyer, Hulk, Korg and Thanos from the Harvest.
- Telekinesis: Using his enhancement from Ebony Maw's DNA, Gravik can telekinetically lift blocks of concrete while fighting G'iah.

Abilities[]
- Master Tactician: By utilising the Skrulls' powers to shapeshift, Gravik ordered his men to go undercover in many organisations around the world, eventually breaching into the governments of the US, UK and many other powerful organisations such as the Americans Against Russia and FXN. He then made use of the AAR undercover to spark tensions between the world powers, intending to start a Third World War by manipulating the United States and Russia from the shadows. Gravik plans to use this “3rd World War” as a front to hide his true intentions - invading humanity and replacing humans as the population of Earth. This tactic ensures the secrecy of the Skrull Resistance and enables him to prepare for future plans without being exposed by the human society. Moreover, Gravik and his team disguised as Russian soldiers and attacked James Ritson to aggravate the tensions between countries, killing Talos in the process.

Equipment[]
Weapons[]
- Smith & Wesson M&P9: While disguised as Nick Fury, Gravik used a sidearm identical to his to shoot and kill Maria Hill when Fury, Hill and Talos tried to stop the Bombing of Vossoyedineniye Square.
Other Equipment[]
- Bulletproof Vest: While coordinating and leading the ambush on President Ritson, Gravik wore a bulletproof vest that protected him from attacks directed at his torso.
Vehicles[]
- Helicopter: Gravik took a helicopter to attack James Ritson. He ordered a missile to be fired from the helicopter and descended from it, continuing his attack on the ground.
Facilities[]
- New Skrullos: Gravik and the Skrull Resistance used New Skrullos as their base of operations, where humans were held in Fracking Pods and missions could be planned. Gravik started opening the facility to any Skrulls, including those who did not fight, and was seen as a hero to them. However, the Skrulls lost faith in Gravik and attacked him, causing him to kill many Skrulls. Gravik met with Nick Fury at New Skrullos, where Fury delivered the Harvest so that Gravik could use it and the Super-Skrull Machine to enhance himself. However, Fury revealed himself to truly be G'iah, and the two fought at the facility until Gravik was killed.
