Fracking Pods are a technology developed by the Skrulls to probe the memories of individuals connected to them and to either project them for viewing or to input these memories into the brains of a Skrull impersonating a particular individual.

Escape from the Skrulls' Ship[]
Vers on a Fracking Pod
In 1995, during a surprise ambush on the Starforce by Skrulls on the planet Torfa, Vers located who she believed to be Soh-Larr, a Kree spy. However, Soh-Larr revealed himself to be Talos and abducted Vers, taking her aboard the Skrulls' Earth-bound vessel. On board the vessel, the unconscious Vers was connected to a Fracking Pod as Talos and the Skrulls skimmed through her life as Carol Danvers, hoping to find information on Mar-Vell, the true identity of the woman Danvers once knew as Dr. Wendy Lawson. As they went through her barely-conscious mind using the projections from the Fracking Pod, Vers watched an odd composite of her buried memories play out.
Vers pretends to still be out unconscious from the Fracking Pod
Vers was eventually able to wake up from the Fracking Pod, finding herself bound upside-down. She pretended to still be unconscious as she listened to the Skrulls. While they were distracted, Vers used her abilities to destroy the Fracking Pod and escape.[1]

Over thirty years later, as part of their invasion of Earth, the Skrull Resistance, led by Gravik, kidnapped several humans and imprisoned them within Fracking Pods, enabling their members to copy both the appearances and memories of the humans they had captured.[2]
